I’m convinced that one of the worst things to ever befall this country fiscally is….

Companies taking money out of people’s paychecks throughout the year in order to cover their taxes.
If Americans had to actually cut a big fat check every year in order to cover the amount of money they entrust to the government every year solely to run this government for the people, they might realize that it is their money, not the government’s money, and so corruption and wildly spending of our money on insane crap, laundering money, and skimming off the top would cause them to lose their ever loving minds in rage over it all, and real substantive lasting change would take place. It actually would have taken place a long time ago.
Instead, most Americans never see that money in their bank accounts, and so never realize that it’s their money that the government is being so insanely irresponsible with. Same goes for the debt that is hung around every American’s neck from birth in our national debt.
If Americans ever came to the realization that those dollars equate to sweat from their own brow, they’d have a completely different mindset on all of this corruption and government hand outs to anyone who asks for it and big hearted politicians dole out on our behalf.

Correct!

They would never allow it for two reasons.
1. So many people wouldn’t pay anything because they spent it.
2. If people saw how much of their money was being stolen for real, politicians would be in a worse spot than being on the wrong side of the French Revolution.
Stealing small sums each paycheck allows the gov to have more money sooner and keep the masses from rioting.

Absolutely.
Payroll withholding has normalized the thought in people's minds that money is the government's.
It also has pointed out how financially illiterate most Americans are. Look at people's reactions when they "get money back!" when they file their taxes. No, dummy, you just gave Uncle Sam an interest free loan with your money.

Exactly why taxes should be collected at the point of sale when the buyer has the money.

Most Americans are so
Stupid that they look at it as a way of saving Christmas money. They get a little check back and love it. This is a nation of fools!

Q) What about the 47% that pay no taxes today...how are they going to feel?
A) Answer - about the same because they have no tax pain

Less than half. Much less. We all know people who treat tax time like Christmas and Uncle Sam is Santa Claus.
It would definitely start people wondering where that money goes, though.

I read somewhere that the author of the bill said his biggest regret was establishing payroll withholding.

A compromise. Make it a law that the money withheld for taxes must be printed on paychecks LARGER than the value going to the worker's account. My wife turned from a moderate to an extreme right winger when we were dating and I showed her the fine print of her check showing money being removed by the govt.

Those folks still pay sales tax, FICA taxes, registration fees for their cars.
They just pay no income tax.
Why do y'all continue to lie to make your points?

But they do as they pay other taxes but not income tax.

I would add make tax day Oct 15 instead of Apr 15, three weeks before the Federal elections.

And if people knew the social security and Medicare their employer pay on their behalf as well……
