Mine is going ... granted it's college but is definitely going.

If I had kids at home, I would NOT homeschool .. someone might be harmed or killed. I'd send them to school if school was open. Now, would I pay for them to "go to school" to then end up online, doubt it (kids went to Catholic school).

Of course. Time to accept the inherent risk of living and return to those things that we must do to sustain our education, culture and economy.

I would if I had any. This begs another question - should school districts put in writing ahead of time just how many kids will have to test positive for the virus before they shut down? I think they should, otherwise, you're going to have some pansy arse shut down the whole school for one kid testing positive.

Yes, but only if they don't have to wear a mask all day.

Schools will open if taxpaying parents make sure their elected employees, their school board and superintendents are working for them and not outside state interests. It is the only way, despite the ongoing state/federal power grab, schools are still managed legally at the parish level at least in Louisiana.

Honestly at this rate I’d tell them to take a gap year and get a fricking job or an internship. That’d look good on a resume in a few years.

EDIT: I was only thinking of college and not high school. For the later, frick yeah they’re going. But parents with kids in college, I’d turn lemons into lemonade here and put the kids in the workforce for a year to gain some good experience other kids won’t have.

Yes. My kids are very excited to get back to school and are generally healthy. I have one daughter with some asthma that is a concern, but she know hows to handle it.

I believe the rule in LA will be the classroom that child was in will be quarantined for 2 weeks. Rest of the school will carry on.

Anomaly for the rule is so far I have not seen how they will address siblings. Only thing I have seen is, without a positive test, they will not shut down the sibling's class. Have not seen if they will recommend/force the sibling to miss 2 weeks.

To piggy back, say school does not open in the fall. Is it fair to say why i'm I paying high school taxes (texas) to support a district that is doing online schooling?

Not TRYING to be a bitch.. but if kids are staying home to "learn".. something else should give as well.

County officials have way too much control. Our St. Louis County executive is trying to frick over the whole county. And he was never even elected.

They will use the BS argument that the teachers are still working, so they are still paying their salaries....

Of course, some schools are getting backlash right now because they used that argument for the end of the year, and now people are finding out they received PPP money to cover that.
