I signed the recall petition but I totally agree with LaToya. Metro's bid was too low and Metro could not fulfill it's contract with the city. It's that simple.
The city did the right thing by rebidding the contract. Citizens should not subsidize companies that under estimate their costs.

Did you even watch 10 seconds of the story posted in my original post?

I can almost assure you that you didn’t because otherwise you wouldn't have made such a stupid f*cking comment.

She purposely bankrupted this company by not paying them what the contract clearly called for them to be paid. They called in an independent evaluator (probably because of some non-binding arbitration provision in the contract) and he determined that Latoya was under paying Metro by $1 million a year. Still, Latoya didn’t give a f *ck and she STILL refused to pay him what he was CLEARLY owed.

You really need to watch Zurik's report.

Is there a thread on this?

Several. But it’s probably easier to just look at the actual Zurik reports.

HERE is a link to all of Lee Zurik's investigative reports. Look at the ones discussing the Pontabla and overtime.

Jeebus dude watch the story or read about it first. Amazing you just drew a conclusion strictly on what you decided in your head without facts that are available

The entire 10PM newscast last night was this Lee Zurik investigation!

I hope that next week the entire 9PM newscast is another investigation. They are so great to watch.

Reading the his earlier enraged me. That fricking count.

Y’all should see the a-hole responses she would reply with when I emailed her about the severity of the situation and how unsanitary it was.

When will she go to jail already?!!

The city has almost $200 MM in federal funds that should have been spent on trash pickup that’s just collecting dust.

Twice the cost for half the service. They must be taking notes from Comcast.

The city was paying Metro $13.60 per home for twice a week pickup for 60,000 homes but we were being charged $24 by S&WB for trash pickup. So S&WB pocketed $10.40 per home per month. 10.40 x 60,000 = $624,000 per month or $7,488,000/year.

Where did that money go?

This seems to be a non story. My garbage is actually picked up now instead of not picked up for 3 weeks.

If the average Orleans Parish voter was a post.

Explains the triple digit water bills, and why a consistent program for reading the water meters to get the correct amount of water usage by residents was never taken seriously.

Water bills arrive here before any of the others.

They don't even give you return envelopes for payment.

Not that long ago under the youngest Morial and then Barthelemy our public school system operated under an extraordinary budget of about a quarter of a billion dollars for a system whose numbers were declining yearly.

At that time a story came out about the number of connected citizens, not public school personnel, using it as a cash cow. Just come in whenever, get your free check and then slink away.

An incredible situation involving flagrant ghosting of hours which is a federal crime.

Nothing was done about it.

Where's the money that this city is swimming in going?

The added insult is we now have a former mayor who holds the title of Infrastructure Coordinator in the Biden Junta, who when he was mayor lots of questions were asked about why projects were either delayed or never completed.

For one, what the streets of Lakeview do to the cars of those who travel them. A problem that continues.

Zurik investigated the Kenner trash to IV waste contract. Mayor resigned

Now NOLA has another trash to IV Waste contract problem

Is there a pattern here?

They were picking up twice a week, currently new company is once a week. New Orleans always stunk in services but once a week garbage collection is beyond bad. I live in Madisonville and garbage trucks run through neighborhood Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday. Obviously something similar could happen then in NO

Metro's contract called for twice a week pickup plus recycling. Metro was actually collecting trash once every seven to ten days and no recycling.

Metro was in violation of it's contract. In fact LC contracted with two other disposal companies to help Metro. Despite Metro unilateral move to reduce their contractual services the city paid Metro.

Through arbitration the city agreed to pay Metro's creditors $4M. A lending company sued Metro for over $10M.

The point being though is great service can be had other than once a week. People are paying ( supposedly ) to have. City contracts large areas out so get a company in there that does the work properly.
