If that approach was factual, think of the resistance to allowing Flock cameras in Minnesota, Dearborn, Chicago, New Jersey, California etc.

Why wouldn't Ice use this data?

Still don’t want Flock even if it serves good purposes at times.

It will be weaponized by a dem administration against us at some point. Bookmark it.

It's been used for everything you can imagine so far. By both administrations. Even if the good guys are using it, I don't want it used by anyone. Should be 1 hundo illegal.

Good, maybe this will be the turning point that unites everyone against these things....

Most of the left is already against flock, some of the right is. I don’t think this moves anyone else over against it.

I hate having the left on the side here that hates flock but it is what it is

Where's Owlie? Need him to lead the fight to pass legislation in Texas that outlaws these things much like he did for red light cameras

I would be okay with flock if they people that abuse it to stalk were arrested or at a minimum, fired. To me independent auditors need to check every access to the data, reason why and the result of the inquiry.

What is the specific gripe with FLOCK cameras? What about them specifically does a seemingly overwhelming majority of the board (and society more broadly) find a problem with?

If its just the surveillance aspect, law enforcement has been able to do that for years, just on a delay. The different is the speed at which they can respond.

So if you're against the speed part I understand that because it is concerning if used for the wrong reasons that they can find you in real time essentially and that is obviously problematic.

But the gripe I most often see is just about "surveillance" more broadly... and I hate to tell you if that part of it is your concern the cat has been out of the bag for years. I hope you don't have a cell phone or a modern vehicle either.

I'm not pro-Flock necessarily, it just seems like people are worried about something that is already happening anyway. Just this week somewhere pretty local to me an attempted rapist was caught within like an hour and I believe it was largely thanks to Flock. If its being used to remove illegals, that's awesome. But like anything what is used for good today can be used for evil tomorrow.

The far left got on this kick against because of the ICE angle. Cities and private businesses utilize personal cameras and LEO routinely is granted access to those for crime purposes. Mu guess is that security camera business will continue to boom as more private citizens utilize them.

The funny part is the Commies didn't say shite when Obama was the biggest abuser of surveillance against all political opponents of the Right via wiretapping, capturing emails, etc.. He even used intelligence to bug Trump's residence. But that was different.

We are now finding out the sudden "grassroots" outrage against data centers is now fueled by NGOs working with the chinese govt.

More lawlessness benefits them as well, I wouldnt be surprised its money through them to the Soros of the world funding this "outrage".

And some are gobbling it up like Little Debbies.

By the way, the upper west side probably has more per capita private cameras than anywhere in the US, they would gladly hand over footage if someone tried to break into their place. Why would the city spend money putting in cameras there.

How can I find out if we use them and where they are located? Is that information available or do you only find that out if you are busted for something?

There is a website you can check to see how many are in your area- I can’t recall the address, maybe someone else can remember.

There were only a couple around me, mostly at Lowe’s Home Improvement.

Yep. China wants American business utilizing Chinese innovation and business, not American. I have no issue with Data Centers as long as they are put into existing Industrial areas away from residential.

And any private business built today has security cameras. They are everywhere.

I don’t understand why anyone would be against this. We are a nation of law and order. If you’re not breaking the law then you have nothing to worry about.

If ice tried to use flock cameras to catch illegals they’d end up arresting white guys

There are no cameras in crime parts of town and facial recognition technology only works on white people

Because I don’t trust the government to only use the data to prosecute criminals. In fact, I don’t trust them to prosecute criminals at all!

I fully expect them to be used to track and harass political opponents, though.

This would be correct if the government was 100% free of corruption and dishonesty and was incapable of ever making mistakes.
