Anecdotal, but I was in a retail store in BR last night, and I overheard to black clerks talking one in probably her 40's and the other in her 50's, and they were talking (loudly of course).
They both agreed that thus bait-and-switch was a set-up from the beginning, and think it's not going to work.

Black women will back her. Her problem is young black men. I don’t see a large chunk of them moving back it they’ve gravitated to Trump. Even if she saves the black vote, other factions preferred a dementia patient to her.

They haven't really gravitated towards Trump. The GOP may have moved the needle a little bit with the shooting and then the convention, but with the announcement that it's Kamala, it's over. Marching orders have been delivered. The churches have all been put on notice. She's going to get the overwhelming majority of black votes. The GOP should certainly court them but not anymore than anyone else.
Kamala could come out in a klan robe covered in swastikas, throwing out racial anti-Jew slurs and she's not losing the black or Jewish vote.

They will. They may not be the one filling out their ballot, but they will vote for the Democrat nominee, whoever it might be.

Quite the conundrum, her great-great-great grandpa was Hamilton Brown a legendary plantation owner and stock(slave) trader in Jamaica. As a matter of fact, he fought the British Crown tooth & nail when it abolished slavery in 1813 and vowed the island colonies were exempt. Interestingly enough, the color Hamilton Brown is named after him, think Carhartt bibs & pants.
