There should be one age of adulthood. I'm sick of this of this we have different ages for every different thing, if you're a legal adult you have the same privileges as every other legal adult, period. Anything else is just special interest groups getting lobby money from massive corporations.

Lets keep the voting age at 18.

Also if a person owns land or a business have their vote count 100 times more than a person who owns nothing.

Also Citizens who are 33 or older and own land have their vote count 1000 times more than those who are 18 to 32 or own nothing.

SIAP but just playing devil's advocate here...would your argument not also apply to 17 year old, 16 year olds, etc???

I think the key point is "well-informed" and, imo, it is one of the strongest reasons to raise the age limit. Most major life decisions like marriage, kids, and housing are now pushed into people's early 30s instead of happening in their 20s or earlier the way old society did it. People just aren't maturing at 18 in the same ways their grandparents or great grandparents were.
Raising the age limit would solve that

There will be exceptions of course, but that's the point. They're EXCEPTIONAL and not the normal voter in that age range

So OP has determined there is a certain segment of the current voting class that he disagrees with so by his determination they should be banned from voting.

So cancel them?

That is a true democrat mentality.

Why not just limit voting to people with 140+ IQs, perfect health, no debt and have a full head of hair?

Does it matter to you how that property is acquired? For example.. should an 18 year old from a wealthy family who inherits or is given money to purchase property be allowed to vote over an poor or middle class 18 year old whos family cannot afford to provide property to them?

Probably, but it won’t happen without a constitutional amendment. And THAT won’t fricking happen without a convention because there is no way Dem pols let that through.

If you can be drafted to go fight and die in a war you should be able to vote for/against the politicians that put you there or might do so.

It’s that simple and for me the concept is more important than taxation without representation. (Another reason 18 year olds should be able to vote).

So it doesnt matter to you how the property is acquired. Rich kids with no mind or care for civic duty will get to vote while poor and middle class, hell even those that are serving their country..... are shite out of luck. Got it.

I would rather leave it at 18 and make anyone who receives welfare/snap ineligible to vote.

If you get a job later you can vote.

There hasn’t been a draft since the early 70s and the current model of the military is not set up for that.

We have highly trained individuals who want to be there and not biker gangs who get busted and have the option of prison or Vietnam.

You left out "due to multiple reasons that can be and are supported with objective statistical measures"

Also, as someone has stated, we probably would be better off with only 140 IQs voting. There would be too much civil dissent to get anything done though.

If we ever reach a world where robots can replace that civilian labor, and still get shite done, watch out.
Not many posters on here that would clear 140 IQ, myself likely included.

Personally, I feel that the right to vote should accompany home/property ownership. You know, actually own a stake in America before having the ability to vote on the direction of the country.

Of course, Dims would try to find a way around that, like gifting voters one square inch of "land" in some uninhabitable clime that no one will ever visit, but there could be ways to prevent that type of "ownership" from being recognized.

As I've argued with another poster dont you think that benefits the wealthy a bit too much? You could just buy or give property to your 18 year old meanwhile poor and middle class kids have to wait until they can earn it themselves.

To vote, you should have to own property AND have a net payment in taxes for the past 2 years. That way voters have skin in the game.

If you are a net federal tax deficit citizen, how can you do what’s best for the people when you cannot do what’s best for yourself without the aid of the state?

This cradle to grave support system is completely unconstitutional, and our founding fathers would have never given a dependent class the same rights as a non dependent class.
