You may be far enough out to have waning immunity. But you survived it unscathed once. No reason to assume a 2nd episode would be different.

Yeah it kinda is. I mean he may catch it again ,but being that his immune system fought off the real virus than he will be fine in fighting it off again though he will likely not get it again.

If that’s not how it works then how do the vaccines work?

Vaccine efficacy seems to end (or at least drop precipitously) somewhere between 3 and 6 months (we don't know more because the testing was rushed and the majority of people who have had both shots started getting their shots in the April-May window, thus we're just now getting into the 6th month... meaning expect a resurgence). Meanwhile, natural immunity efficacy seems to last at least a year (per bone marrow tests of those who had the virus, antibodies were found in their marrow as far as 12 months out, and this was back in the early part of the year when there weren't as many subjects who had a full year since infection).

August 2020 here. No re infection since. Had two instances of people around me getting it and tested negative both times. Last instance I was in a small room with 3 coworkers (all unmasked) who all tested positive later that day. Any that was this past august, one year later.

Do I think I have unlimited immunity, no, but I do thing I have t-Cell immunity which will remember how to fight the virus in a future exposure. The is the same immunity that the Vac is trying to give but seem to only be giving anti bodies. Studies have shown natural immunity is 7-13 times better then artificial (Vax immunity).

But prior infection does not give credit for immunity. Only the Vax will save you……

Why? I think it is stupid that people infer they are not protected after surviving a virus, at least for a period of time. Even the vaccinations currently available don't protect you from getting the virus or spreading, how does than infer protection?

The purpose of a vaccine is to mimic the immune response you get from natural infection.

Subsequent exposures to the virus are your “booster.” If you get sick from the virus in 2020, and if you are out in the community/around a lot of varied people, you have likely been re-exposed numerous times.
