re: I agree that DC needs an entrance monument. I see no downside to this.

What say yall?
Maybe break ground for the 250th, but I don't think there's any way something of that scale would be completed before July. Hell, Just the red tape and permits might take 24 months to clear.
But I'm all for it. If it's privately funded, build it immediately.

I live here and it's a terrible idea. First of all, there's about 200 entrances into DC. Why single out just one entrance?
Because building 200 arches would be gaudy.

Second, traffic is already bad enough. We don't need anymore construction right now.
Let's not beautify America because of traffic.
Great architecture instills pride in the country. Trump is trying to change the culture of America and bring back patriotism. There's a bigger picture at play. Trump isn't making these changes on a whim. He has always believed in the grandeur and majesty of America and wants people to be able to see that.
We have one of the major political parties who hates America and wants to destroy it. We shouldn't spend our time complaining when Trump tries to build it up.

I would prefer Trump spend the money on better showers and ovens at the secret camps he is constructing...

We should build a giant toilet to symbolize all who dwell there and everything it stands for. And we should make Congress, the actual useless fricks in it, pay for it.

We used to build real art like this, now the only “art” we build is from liberal blue hairs who contribute ugly “modern” art that a kindergartner could make.
If you care, photorealism is modern art.
But i would say DC has enough monuments until we build Afghanistan/Iraq war monuments.

A federal judge in Minneapolis will rule it unconstitutional somehow, and SFP will slobber all over a 39 page thread over it.
