Citadel CEO Ken Griffin called New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s viral video—which singled out Griffin and his Manhattan penthouse while announcing a new tax—a "personal attack" and a "profound lack of judgment."

Put your money where your mouth is Ken and close up shop and move to Dallas or Miami

Why doesn't capitalism pay doctor's minimum wage? Wouldn't the profit seaking hospitals make a lot more money?

You see union and think it was just about cheap labor

Did you know that unions made it impossible to remove people from the assembly line even if they were not performing or a danger to others?

Famously, Ford had a room where some people sat and got paid for years because they couldn't fire them due to the union contract but also did not want them back on the line.

You should really do more research into how the unions strangled Detroit before spouting off because it was about way more than just cheaper labor.

I met a woman who grew up in Detroit and had family memories of escaping.

She said, that "they" came and burned down the city and we rebuilt it. "They" came and burned it down again, so we left. It was a massive case of white flight fostered in very similar ways that our "progressive" idiots are doing today.

The saying was, "When the last white person leaves Detroit, please turn off the lights."

A socialist can do a lot of damage to a city the size of NYC.

Give us a history lesson - when did unions come along and destroy Detroit?

No one can speak factually about capitalism without being called a communist here.

The unions also kept American auto manufacturing from using the robotics an American had developed while Japan embraced it and ate our lunch.

I've read quite a lot about Detroit. I don't read random tweets and think I'm an expert on everything like you do, bud.

The demise accelerated in 1984 when the UAW contract was renegotiated because the UAW was afraid of modern manufacturing techniques.

This was all well documented for years but really came to light in 2008 when we bailed out the auto industry

Shocked that a scholar such as yourself doesn't recall it

At one point in 2006, there was15K people in the UAW job bank program being paid to sit around and do crossword puzzles because the UAW contract made it impossible to fire anyone. Technically, those people could have chosen to stay on the job, sitting in the room until the day they died. Not even joking.

As I said, car manufacturers leaving Detroit wasn't just about low pay.

Do some research and stop making a fool of yourself.

The struggle between labor and management is not only an issue with capitalism. Former Yugoslavia was socialist and unions brought that nation to its knees through strikes and unwarranted pay increases.

Most workers always overvalue their labor. Once they hit a rate that is overvalued, automation or outsourcing takes over. This is what happened in Detroit. We also see this with minimum wage jobs. This is seen in all economic structures, not just capitalism.

Your graduate instructors would be so proud of that textbook Marxist answer.

They certainly played a big roll especially combined with Detroit's leftist city government. The final dagger was white flight of major proportions leaving the remains of the city population in the hands of leftists and a third world mentality.

Obviously not or else you wouldn't be spouting nonsense that every other economist, even the left-leaning ones, have long understood about the unions' effect on the Detroit auto manufacturing.
