During the Revolution my ancestor, on my paternal grandmother's side, was a body guard for George Washington. Was given the first homestead in Lenox Township, Pa.

I qualify, just haven't gotten copies of all of the documents and filled out the paperwork. I haven't been able to be active in SCV/MOSB for a few years so no need to join if I can't be active.

I have two direct bloodline Patriots. One fought in the Carolinas, the other was part of George Rogers Clark's expedition. I've seen mixed descriptions of that service - some documents seem to say he stayed at a garrison around present day Louisville, others say he was part of the sacking of the fort. I do know he was given a bounty land grant in Vincennes for his service.

I have ancestors in both the revolution and war of 1812. It is very probable that I actually have an ancestor that was on the Ranger with John Paul Jones. But it's confirmed that I have some in the war of 1812. I have copies of pension records with their names on them.

My ancestors were Irish, so they didn't have to be convinced too much to shoot at the English.

Me.

My grandfather from many generations up was the first on that side of the family to be born in America. He fought under George Washington at Valley Forge and then participated in a number of other major battles in the north and the south.

I have his extensive service history.

He survived the war and is buried at Greenville, South Carolina.

Cool my man, way cool.

My dads side came to this miracle called 'Merica in the early 1700s through the port pf Philly. Served as indentured servant for the agreed contract.

Moved to NC and worked like a dog and built a nice life for his family.

One of his sons, my ancestor, was a member Joseph McDowell's Burke County Militia from North Carolina.

LINK

Fought in several important battles:

BattleofKingsMountain

BattlefoCowpens

After the war, he rafted down the Ohio and Miss rivers and settled in St Helana parish.

To all the patriots and families whose ancestors who fought and sacrificed so much to so we can have the Blessings of the Almighty:

Not me. My family didn't come here till the 1880s. Yet somehow I'm still on the hook for slavery. Go figure.

I have three ancestors that I know of who fought in the revolution, including a father and son. My wife has three so our kids have six. I should find a chapter near me and get active. Havent really been active in many years.

SAR member. Several ancestors served in the Revolution on Dad’s side in N.C. & S.C. One had a brother who had his own Loyalist regiment in S.C. Later fled to Nova Scotia.
