I don't think they really care, the way they look at it is... change can't happen without getting rid of the old.

With nuclear energy, there is always that chance that a catastrophic failure occurs at some point in the future, weather it be 'perfectly placed earthquake', hurricane, man made event, etc.

If we outlaw, abolish and extinguish the use of all air-conditioning on private property in the USA, we can jump to renewable sources more easily.

With a move to EVs it will also trigger a move to 440 volt home charging stations. Just think of 1 neighborhood (120 single family houses) all having these Level 3 stations. That would fry a power grid service station by itself. Now extrapolate that out and tell me, how in the hell can we even come close to this type of power generation? Nuclear might be the only way
