Bottom line, at all.levels, security is moronic and or scared to squeeze off shots

I’ll say it again, we should have special ops guys running security on Trump at this point.

Share this video ten years ago and people would swear it was real.

We’ve reached the point where we can’t trust much of what we see.

Crazy times.

Missed or not taken?

based on that photo, not taken.

Remember the guy is running at a full sprint almost straight at him, giving him a fraction of a second to aim. Now track it, if you fire and miss you have 1, and then 3 of your own guys in line of fire.

I now see this is an AI picture, but it's based on the security feed. If you look at that fuzzy security feed, the cops are in the same basic positions; so "safe shot" rules still apply. You don't want to accidently shoot Bob at the table, because you didn't have time to get a clean sight picture.

They have provided no connections worth a hoot in the recent past where the shooter was left alive.

why did his head not explode in a red mist?

Are you upset they were able to capture him alive so that his mouth can provide information regarding his groomers?

The OP said the guy rain thru “screening” and “protection” - which is completely not true. The guy was stopped and apprehended at the checkpoint. He pulled out his weapons and ran thru a public area into the security set up where he was stopped. Yes, if he had a suicide vest on he would have killed a lot of LEO’s who were at the checkpoint but he would not have gotten in the secure area either. We’ve seen that at embassies and bases over seas with suicide bombers who blow up checkpoints but not the things the check point is protecting,

Law enforcement in a free country can only do so much in the general public area. That’s why holding events in an already controlled area is going to be the norm moving forward and Trump is pushing for the ballroom. And I’ve seen reports about other events surrounding the dinner weren’t secured properly. To this, law enforcement doesn’t secure random events with no legally protected person attends. The SS could care less about a cocktail party being held at the hotel by the media. For law enforcement to spend tax dollars to secure an event they have to have a law to back that up. Otherwise, the private event can spend their own money for security, usually off duty cops. This is what high end restaurants and movie theaters do all over the country,

Why do we need special ops? Are they trained to de-escalate? Do they know how to build sites? Have extensive hours of use of force training?

They know how to kill assholes that need killing very efficiently.

Well law enforcement’s job is to de-escalate and de-conflict. When the time comes for lethal force, to neutralize a threat, not kill.

Can’t tell if you’re being facetious but no… which is exactly why we need them at this point.

An assassin who fires on a security checkpoint shouldn’t be standing trial they should’ve been eliminated with small arms fire.

We are in a a civil war threat environment and if the opposition had any sort of advanced tactics Trump would already be dead because our security is clearly and obviously lax and doesn’t employ the type of tactics required to secure a protectee with the security profile Trump has.

I though security outside was the DC police?

This guy was a guest at the hotel. Security outside the event would be irrelevant.

Responsibility rests solely with the Secret Service.

So that begs the question...should guests at the hotel been scrutinized? Probably wouldn't have taken too much time to run all the names and follow up with anyone who stood out. This guy clearly would have...a guy who traveled by train from California would stand out. And then this guy makes it from his room to where the action starts, with the weaponry he had, dressed the way he was? Didn't attract any suspicion?

Should the Secret Service have done better? Probably.

So again...who's the Secret Service director? As the head of Trump's protection detail at Butler, he should bear zero responsibility for that? Not even 10%? Is he really the right person for the job?

And...who does the SS director report to, and at what point is that person accountable? It was ICE Barbie, but Mullin has barely had his feet on the ground long enough to have previously acted. How much experience does he have in law enforcement and security? Zero.
