How did the Mueller special counsel appointment go from Russian collusion to porn stars?

The AG recused himself from the investigation because he didn't want the appearance of a conflict of interest in the "Russian election investigation."

But there is no Russian election investigation now. It's now all about Trump's attorney and a porn star that crossed paths with Trump more than a decade before the election.

This investigation is the most glaring example of mission creep I've ever seen.

As someone said in another thread, if this doesn't pan out they will be investigating Trump for flipping off someone in 5th grade. It's ridiculous

There was never any official scope. It's a mission to bring down a duly elected President. Plain and simple.

It's called unmitigated hatred of a man.

Because they are grasping at straws. I hate to equate this to sports but remember Bountygate? In the court of public opinion the Saints were already guilty. The NFL controlled the message through their media affiliates and peppered the public with story after story about their “evidence”. When it was all said and done, the players were completely exonerated and I suspect the coaches would have enjoyed the same outcome had they had a governing body to fight that fight.

There is little difference here. The media has peppered the public with Russia and porn stars with hopes that it desensitizes the public and, whether actually guilty or not, Trump is still guilty.

The Special Counsel statute should be abolished in its entirety. There is nothing more undemocratic than a prosecutor with an unlimited scope, unlimited resources and almost zero accountability. Let Congress investigate, let them refer matters to the DOJ for prosecution and let the DOJ exercise its discretion in determining whether or not to prosecute.

If the police get a warrant to search your house for drugs but find a shite load of AK-47s instead, are you still in trouble?

Not if the underlying basis for the warrant wasn't sufficient probable cause.

Totally irrelevant hypothetical and obvious desperation on your part to justify the SC's mission creep after he's failed to find any Russian election collusion.

Not if I have licenses for them all or they are all demilitarized or you stop being gay.

I know, I know. The last one is a big stretch.

No. If you bought/obtained them legally, there is no crime.

Dumb example is dumb

Not according to Michael Caputo who was just questioned by Mueller's team.

But I'm sure you know all the details of the investigation.

The Michael Cohen matter is being handled by the SDNY. I do not believe Sessions has recused himself from it.

SCO is still handling the Russia investigation.

Is that the crime they are investigating? I believe the payment is the issue. How dumb are you?
