As you get older, it’s different. I’m definitely going to watch a girls’ BB game shirts vs. skins. It’s really no different than girls’ beach volleyball.

Society today is soft and full of mentally ill males that have championed this.

“We do not have joint women’s and men’s basketball records,” David Worlock, the NCAA director of media coordination and statistics, wrote in an email Thursday. “We consider them two different sports and thus maintain separate records."

Here's an easy way to even the comparison-
Count how many three pointers she made and then deduct the extra point awarded for each of those. There were no three point shots in any college basketball up until the 1980s.
It's not an apples to apples comparison in the first place.

I dont understand the logic. Pete played 3 seasons. Clark played 4. Pete played against men, Clark plays against women
Yes I know
And I agree with all of it
Once again my point is it’s just fodder for the liberal morons
Any logical thinking person doesn’t give two craps about her breaking his record

It's called DEI....

If Pistol Pete had played against girls, he would have averaged 200 points a game.

CAITLIN CLARK JUST BROKE PETE MAROVICH'S SCORING RECORD!!

And debating it plays right into their hands. Just ignore it.

Gottta talk about the 3 point shot as well. Pete didn't have that luxury.

Not sure why it took so long for this to be brought up. CC has 503 3-pointers in her career. She averages 28.3 points per game. PP averaged over 40. His ppg record is not in jeopardy.
Not to mention that she uses a basketball that is smaller than the ball that the men use.
So, you may ask, "LCA131, is the rim smaller too?" NO.!!! The rim is the same size but the ball is smaller...
Such bullshite to compare the 2.
Posted on 3/3/24 at 7:40 pm to Magyarok92
Imagine how many points Pete would have if he played against girls!!!!
Posted on 3/3/24 at 7:43 pm to LCA131
Much respect to both. And of course, because of differences in time the two could never play against each other - such as a simple one on one horse game. Everyone with any common sense knows that Pistol would majorly school her as in playing a male HS player.
Again, respect to the young woman, however the comparison crap is ridiculous. And BTW, the folks spouting and promoting this cannot define gender. So what is the push here?

CC's 28.3 points per game wouldn't crack the top 25 of men's ppg. [link=(reference.com/cbb/leaders/men/pts-per-g-player-career.html)]LINK[/link]

Pete could not play varsity as a freshman because it was not allowed by the NCAA.
Maravich played 83 games to score his points - and averaged 43.8/44.2/44.5 in his 3 varsity seasons - all without the 3-point FG at his disposal -
Pete would've scored over 5700 points if he played the - now 129 games for Clark - with his 44.2 career scoring average --- five thousand seven hundred points
it's absurd the hype being fabricated by trying to compare Clark to Maravich -

However, some of the “women” playing today are as big and strong and fast as many of the men back in Pete’s day
That’s a complete lie. You don’t get to substitute asinine assumptions as truth. That’s lazy at best.

I feel like you should have to play the same sport to break the record. This is just another push to prop up women as being equal physically. It actually takes away from her accomplishment.

Uh, no!

I think some of the comparison is getting muddied with other things. I was watching a Whitlock podcast, and some of it relates to what she’s done versus women, and not directly against his record. She is also facing a situation where she will be entering a league where the other players (and some teammates) will be antagonistic toward her, which Pete had to deal with as well.
