How can sports media pretend Caitlin Clark broke pistol Pete’s record ?

Look I love CC for as much as I crap on women’s basketball she’s somewhat fun to watch. But it’s not the same sport you can’t say a woman broke a record set against men while she’s playing against women that’s insane. That’s like saying if I win a local tennis tournament 25 times I beat Roger Federer

There’s a whole slew of differences.
Bottom line: she holds the women’s mark. Which is fine. But there’s no comparison, because they’re essentially different sports, and from different eras.

Dude, she owns the ncaa record for points scored in basketball
No, she could not outplay Pete in his prime, we all know that
However, some of the “women” playing today are as big and strong and fast as many of the men back in Pete’s day
She’s earned her record, and that does not diminish anyone else; especially the record holder in the men’s sport

Pete could not play varsity as a freshman because it was not allowed by the NCAA. I remember how the fans came early and filled the stadium to watch him play in the freshman games. Then half of them left as LSU's mediocre varsity took the court. It was amazing stuff to watch.
