Sure it is, then you can hear them rant and rave about this and all the other bills they passed but did not get past the senate. If they actually thought it would pass they would not even bother. GOP does the same thing. Bunch of do nothings in DC..cept for the glorious one.

truth is, I work for myself, and If I actually made 15 bucks per hour for all of the time that I really put in, and received overtime pay, I would probably bring home a quarter million per year.

Seattle has already done this and the numbers don’t lie showing how bad this is. Of course facts aren’t important if u mean well according to AOC.

If you're making minimum wage at a job for more than 6 months you're not worth minimum wage.

No Dems planned on a show vote.
They know it’s not going anywhere, but they need issues.

But at least in the metro Seattle area, businesses can relocate to more friendly municipalities.

It will get orders of magnitude worse when that option isn't available.

Exactly correct. Something they can pander to their clueless base.

Nevermind what this will do to raise the costs of everything across the board, thereby nullifying any “raise,” let’s look at some raw numbers:

This means that two “cohabiting” people flipping burgers at McDonald’s will make $60,000 a year.

Compare this to your average Joe newly out of college who gets his first job paying only $45k and has $60k in student loans.

frick all this bull shite!!!

Doubling the minimum cost of unskilled labor overnight won't have an effect on businesses, right?

Yeah, I just surprised it wasn't $20 or $30/hr with paid leave, Healthcare and a side of reparations.

So the Texas Legislature gave teachers and other staff a raise.

I went to a school board meeting recently and an otherwise liberal superintendent was lamenting the fact that the raises would put certain teachers within salary striking distance of administrators, which, in his opinion, was clearly unacceptable and would require the school board (taxpayer) to give those administrators raises to make everything right in their world.

I wanted to stand up and shout "ding ding ding ding ding!"

That's not the Democrats plan. Their plan is to [pass a bill in the House, knowing it'll never pass the Senate, only to motivate their base.

This is strictly a political move, and has nothing to do with the cost of labor or the economy.

Their only objective is to get it on record, and be able to point the finger at the republican senate and use it against them in 2020.

My family just bought a snow cone biz as a side gig.

If we had to pay somebody $15/hr to come run a snow cone trailer then we would be better off setting the trailer on fire and rolling it off a cliff. There are days when we break even or lose money at the current rate.

Nobody is paying $10 for a snow cone.
