3 repubs voted yes

Only 6 dems voted no

I’m surprised more dems in non coastal states didn’t vote against it

Not that it matters, McConnell won’t even consider it

The CBO estimates that a $15 min wage could cost almost 4 million jobs and shrink overall economy

Very very surprising more moderate suburban dems voted for it

That'll destroy small business. Just the way Democrats planned it

Need to hurry and get it in to try to slow down the economy before 2020.

I’ll come out of retirement and get a do-nothing job for that amount. I guess it will be gravy until the inflation hits like you economics minded people say it will.

Why do Democrats hate people making minimum wage. $15/hr will kill quite literally several million jobs at entry level.

What about the guy that started at $11/hr and spent the last three years working his way up to $16/hr? Does he get a $4 raise?

Or does he effectively get a $5 pay cut? Because with a raise in the minimum he’d be making less above the starting point, $1 above opposed to $5 above before the change.

No one ever talks about that guy.

Good point. Now that the unskilled greeter at Walmart is making 15, what do you pay the HVAC technician or the cop who was previously making 14.50 (pretty accurate numbers for my po’ neck of the woods)? I guess bump them up 7 bucks an hour as well?

Good. More fuel to take back the House.

Instead of doing something somewhat reasonable like a $9 or $10 minimum wage, they are hell bent on going for $15 which will easily get squashed.

They don’t give a shite about raising minimum wage, it’s all political grandstanding.

This would have so many unintended consequences, all that screw the worker. You want to see all large scale corporations sink millions into perfecting robot technology. This would do it. Millions of lost jobs would be an understatement.

You know what's strange?

We own a small retail business in Birmingham, AL. The competition for functional employees has gotten crazy, intense. We are rapidly approaching the $15/hr mark when you factor in hourly wage and bonuses in order to hire new employees.

I often wonder if anyone in Washington, DC has any practical experience at all.

I have tried to explain this to many people but they simply do not "get it."

You know what consistently depresses wages more than almost anything else? Illegal Immigration.

Illegal immigration hurts the working poor more than any other class. There are studies published that in some urban areas, by halving illegal immigration, you could put $65 to $130 EXTRA PER WEEK in the pockets of the working poor, just in increased wages!!
