Military Times

Trump should have had Congress codify this instead of making a unilateral change.

Millions will be spent changing the names BACK to the Biden-era changes.

I will note this is interesting to occur on the weekend of D-Day 82. The changing back to Confederate names did harm serving members who felt it was an obvious attempt to return to honoring The South.

Regardless it doesn’t make fiscal sense at this point to go back.

I will forever call Hood and Bragg by their names. The new ones are stupid and nobody uses them at either Post

Did it? What’s the metric by which this anguish is gauged?

No, Hank was a pretend lawyer. RFK is a slip and fall type in New Orleans.

This seems like a strange hill for the libtards to want to die on.

I spent a lot of years at Bragg. It's Fort Bragg. It shouldn't even be up for discussion anylonger.

I'm so sick and tired of the Marxo-Commie bullshite.

Were there any members of the GOP that voted to advance this hogwash?

You do know that some that were changed had nothing to do with the confederacy or the South, yes? Even if they were, how many soldiers actually knew that or complained that it harmed them?

This was just woke bullshite, pure and simple. No one ever cared about statues that were covered in pigeon shite until they were told to.

I have yet to hear anyone refer to ft. Polk as ft. Johnson. One of the dumbest things to ever be done. On a side note, I met a guy a year ago who lives around lakeview off Touissant. He referred to it Robert E Lee. I jokingly said “don’t you mean Touissant?”. He let me have it, and said nobody refers to it by the new name or ever will.

Everyone at work, on the post, or generally in the Army refer to them by their original names.

That is my thinking as well, I would think many soldiers would have pride in the fact they lived and worked at a particular fort.

It would be akin to saying LSU was founded by people associated with slavery so its now named Rosa Parks University.

It wont hold. A district court will shut this shart down. The names have already been changed back.

Republican Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., who voted for the amendment, said his Virginia ancestor fought for the Union and would be “rolling in his grave” knowing U.S. military bases were named for Confederate leaders.

Well .... that explains a lot about that twatwaffle Don Bacon.

He's outta here this year, correct?

He's as RINO as they come.

Bacon is recognized as a moderate and a member of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus who represents a swing district that voted for Democratic presidential candidates in 2020 and 2024.

Retirement Announcement: On June 30, 2025, Bacon announced he will not seek re-election in 2026, stating his current term ending in January 2027 will be his last.  He cited a desire for "a new Republican" to handle the demands of the seat and expressed pride in his record of passing 38 bills and working across the aisle, despite occasional conflicts with former President Donald Trump.

A panel advancing a bill doesn't mean it will pass and even in the slim chance that it does I imagine it will be vetoed. Clutch your pearls elsewhere.

Maybe in the 120th Congress. These nutless queers have shown they're only interested in obstructionism.

I was born at Fort Gordon in Augusta Ga and I'll never call it anything else. Eisenhower was the name of the hospital I was born in, not the Fort.

I don't give a damn what fricked in the head left wingers like the OP call it, I'm indifferent to those morons

I grew up in lakeview, but rarely end up in that area these days - was driving down Robert E Lee last weekend and looked at the street sign and for a split second had the weirdest feeling of oh Jesus where the hell am I, I’m lost. Then I remembered they made it gay

It’s already made it through Senate committee.

Well-timed IMO when the war isn’t going well. This will slip through and next thing you know we’ll be changing names back. An immense waste of money.
