The region became so economically dependent on the factory that it overlooked many of the environmental red flags to preserve their economic engine. Birth defects, exploding cancer rates and forever chemicals in the water supplies were the price paid by citizens.
No one cares about these people because it’s a poor parish. Don’t y’all realize that’s exactly why it was chosen for exploitation?

Projections are always overly optimistic and are significantly overstated. They generally create only 9% of the jobs they promise to create. So instead of 1,000 jobs, Richland might get 90.

Why doesn’t Louisiana try to court established industry that isn’t as unknown and controversial?
Data centers are buildings full of computers. Why anyone thinks a computer touted to take jobs would actually create jobs is beyond me.

I agree that Louisiana needs economic development. I have concerns about the people in Richland Parish who several people are in this thread making fun of and acknowledging that they are in a desperate position.
