The most tone-deaf governor opens his mouth again.

Gov. Jeff Landry and other Louisiana leaders on Monday hailed an announcement that Facebook parent company Meta is more than doubling the size of its mammoth Hyperion data center in Richland Parish, saying this is a moment that “Louisiana has been waiting for for generations.”
Data centers are the “backbone of a digital economy,” Landry said, and they represent “the next industrial revolution.”
“We’re building a foundation for the next generation of American prosperity,” Landry said.
The expansion, first reported by The Advocate | The Times-Picayune, will increase the total cost from $10 billion to $50 billion. The site will now cover 3,200 acres — roughly five square miles — and will have 5 gigawatts worth of computing power, making it one of the largest in the world.
“Louisiana is the envy of every state,” said Dina Powell McCormick, president and vice chairman of Meta.
“We want to be the very best partners that this state could possibly have,” she said. “We are here for the long haul, and we could not be more proud.”
The expansion will increase the number of construction jobs to roughly 7,500 — about 50% more than originally announced. And it will double the number of permanent jobs to 1,000 once both phases of the project are fully operational, which is estimated to be in 2036.
Meta has said it will spend $1 billion to upgrade infrastructure in Richland, which has just 20,000 residents and is among Louisiana’s poorest parishes.

You feel like you have a good sense and grasp of the statewide tone on this, do you?

4Chubbs spouting her LDS BS again...
NOLA leftist commie, like all of them, just can't stand it that Louisiana is a red state and the world doesn't revolve around NOLA.

It has nothing to do with my feelings. Are your feelings dictating your response to the thread?

Seven in 10 Americans oppose constructing data centers for artificial intelligence in their local area, including nearly half, 48%, who are strongly opposed. Barely a quarter favor these projects, with 7% strongly in favor.

What's Louisiana say?
How about Richland Parish?
I feel like I would like to know that, to see if I can feel this is a "tone deaf" position by our Governor.

It's a 250 Billion dollar investment in Louisiana but outside of New Orleans.
Win - Win.
Wait until they start making money off of the AI.

Who is "they"? Richland Parish? You're suggesting Richland Parish will profit from the 3,2000 acres data center that is alleged to create 1,000 permanent jobs? 1 job per every 3 acres?
A data center was proposed for New Orleans and residents fought it.

Nah, I'm good. But until you provide something otherwise, I will continue feeling you don't have a firm grasp on the overall tone of the state.
In fact, there's not really anything you have ever posted here that would lead me to believe that you do.

Hard to compete with the thoroughness of your response, which is just you complaining about me posting without quoting anything.

What issue do you feel the state has a unified stance on?

Good for Landry. About time north Louisiana had something nice.

I wasn't trying to burn you, ma'am. I was just hoping you had something to actually back up your seeming claim that the Governor is taking a position contrary to the general tone of the state.
It doesn't seem that you do. You made the statement, you see.
