What a stupid fricking post. Part of the governor’s job is attracting industry to the state.
Paper mill, auto plant, data center, chemical plant. We should all be celebrating at the addition of these, or any other industry.

seriously, you are posting on the internet on a computer or phone made possible by plants like that. you drive cars made possible by them, your house is full of items made possible by them.
so are you suggesting we get rid of a 150 years of tech?

but please explain to me in detail what chemicals these AI centers release into the environment. explain the process to me please, as an engineer I am very interested in this and your understanding of it. I beg you too

4Commies would be perfectly fine if half the farmland in Richland parish was covered in solar panels, but somehow a huge data center providing billions of tax dollars and 1000 permanent jobs is exploitation? Doing the Xi's work there, comrade.

I keep seeing the water argument on data centers. These arguments are false. Usually the cooling systems are closed loop. Once filled, that's it. A paper mill or chemical plant would use exponentially more water over time. The other concerns are power. Entergy is building power plants dedicated for this project, paid for by Meta, and they will use 100% of the power. They had to get state approval to build them by law, but this shouldn't affect anyone else's rates. With this expansion, they'll have to go back to the board for approval to build more gas turbine generators.

That’s 5% of the parish population. That’s equivalent to NO getting 18,000 new jobs.
