Worked for one season in which they got a 1-2 month break due to a pandemic which allowed LeBron to heal up for the playoffs.

Let’s see how this works out for them the next few seasons since they don’t have many assets left and AD looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane.

That's not surprising to me because anyone that wanted to see Black Widow already has.

Usually that's the case with any big movie. It was the biggest weekend to weekend drop off of any MCU movie ever though.

Also having the streaming options complicate things. I know several who paid the extra to watch Black Widow on Disney Plus and who watched Space Jam 2 on HBO Max.

I mean, they already got a championship out of it.

Mission accomplished.

But they were easily a top 4 team in the league this year when healthy. Lebron and AD will most likely battle injury stuff from here on out, so that’s not ideal. But they’re alright.

And again, Lebron just showed again how he’s the best GM in the league. Got paid millions to acquire AD and then won a championship with him.

Also not surprising considering many think this story should have been told years ago.

That is an interesting factor though. But I still wouldn't have been surprised at the news that Space Jam 2 made more than Black Widow this week.

I'm waiting for Black Widow to be free on D+ to watch. Not watching the new Space Jam even though I have HBO Max.

do you by chance have a link?...I'd love to show this to a buddy, but want to show him the sourcing as well.

LINK

Also, Teke is right - distribution and marketing costs weren't built in to the $150M production cost.

Also, just FYI I didn't take a side here. Just reporting what I read.

SJ2 was also offered free on one of the streaming services (HBO Max maybe?)

You think people aren’t going to give LeBron shite over that championship for years if they can’t do it again in a normal season?

The Spurs got shite for years since their first few titles were in shortened seasons, such as the 1999 strike season. It took winning a lot of rings against good teams for that to go away.

I went to the movies to see it. It was MUCH better than I thought it to be. Really a good movie, and a lot funnier in a dry humor way than I expected.

Was somewhat looking forward to the new space jam movie... until I saw that lebron James was in it. Disappointed that they cast that extreme authoritarian in it.

Why isn’t china showing the movie?

Joker made over $1 billion and it didn’t show in China either. Space jam 2 must really suck!

I think it’s just not currently scheduled for a Chinese release, but I’m sure they’ll figure that out. China only allows like 30 American films to be shown in their theaters every year. Granted the Chinese have no fricking clue what the Looney Tunes are (had fun showing them Road Runner cartoons since those don’t require you to speak the language to get them and they laughed their asses off on those) but Lebron is huge over there.

Right. P&A is normally 1/3 to 100% of the production budget. I would imagine for a project like this it was on the higher end of that range.

Distribution is going to also be on the high end. This will be a huge loser for WAG.

It made $30 million this past weekend didn't it? I have a hard time thinking that they won't at least break even. Especially when you take into account HBO Max sales

Why would anyone give him shite? What was he supposed to do, not win the championship?

Wouldn’t bother me if nobody even recognized it.

Now y’all can make fun of him for having the same amount of titles as Larry Bird.
