He cannot ever bring back the draft by himself, so his opinion is irrelevant.

Wow, so I guess Saigon didn't actually fall in 1975? And all those helicopters being dumped off air craft carriers was for fun?

That’s not what he said. The OP is a modern Jane Fonda.

The Tet Offensive, the turning point of the war, was in fact a military failure for NV

Giap & other NV generals were flabbergasted to see the US Media portray it as a success

Someone should tell “Liberty Wallace” that all adult males in the US register for Selective Service aka the draft when they turn 18. As for Vietnam we lost because of politics and the media, even though we shouldn’t have been there in the first place

OP probably thinks we didn’t beat Japan because we didn’t completely annihilate them

The US did win the Vietnam War. Democrats allowed the Communist to topple the South in 1975. But the communists never defeated the US in any engagements and we could have stopped them in ‘75 with air power alone as the Easter Offensive of 1972 demonstrated.

Our military hasn't lost us any wars our politicians have. As far as the draft is concerned the vast majority of military members do not want a draft. We do not want to babysit a bunch of useless distractions.

No, the United States did not win the Vietnam War. While the U.S. military won most of the major battles, the U.S. failed to achieve its strategic objective of preventing a communist takeover of South Vietnam. The conflict ended in a North Vietnamese victory, with Vietnam uniting under a communist government in 1975.

In military strategy, history, and international relations, the outcome of a war is determined by whether a nation achieved its strategic and political objectives. Because the United States failed to achieve its primary objective, and its adversary fully achieved theirs, the outcome is objectively classified as a defeat.

What is impressive is how the man can move his lips and gesture, completely independent of the soundtrack. He must have learned that in his special forces years.

I was wrong about him in an earlier thread as I said he probably hasn’t come up with an opinion on his own volition. He has, and he is retarded. If this guy wins, he will be a non-factor in Congress.

And this is the crux of criticism with this current Iran bullshite. It they remain an "imminent" nuclear threat as the current spin indicates, then ground troops and the draft are necessarily on the table. Either that, or we start firing off nukes ourselves. Instead, we're playing goofy stratego. Doesn't seem so "imminent".

as someone who was actually alive and witnessed it, i was 14 when siagon fell, it looked a lot like biden's withdraw from afganistan, your proudest moment. with the exception of people hanging off of C-17's

and it was a completely self inflicted wound. it would have never happened if the uniparty hadn't taken out nixon.

any of that sound familiar?

Militarily, he's right about the Vietnam War. The USA kicked the shite out of them in every significant engagement (TET was a defeat for the NVA/VC). The USA lost it politically, thanks to the limited nature of the war, turmoil at home and the media.

There's also some basis for his opinion about the draft. It's a lot easier to send a professional volunteer military off to fight than literally taking the public's sons off the streets to throw in the meat grinder.
