Frick this Gallrein mofo. Military drafts are nothing more than meat grinders where crooked politicians (like Lyndon Johnson) send our sons, right out of high school, to fight wars in God forsaken hot steamy hell holes.
Lyndon Johnson and the crooks in Congress sacrificed 58,200 American young men for nothing in Viet Nam. Their names are written on that Viet Nam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington,D.C. Two of my high school buddies and one cousin are listed on that wall. Two more from my home town.
I support our troops, but the only reason I want a standing Army is to defend our shores from attack. Now other than a full fledged "December 7th Pearl Harbor" type surprise attack I DO NOT support sending our boys anywhere.
But then given the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the hands of lunatics and corrupt democrat politicians willing to hand our advanced military weapons secrets to despots (are you reading this Bill Clinton) in exchange for campaign contributions, I figure it's just a matter of time before the whole world goes up in smoke.
Having said that, if you elect these crooked democrats, get ready to see your sons and daughters drafted and coming home to you in government funded caskets.
FACT - these bastard democrats only care about two things - lining their pockets and playing nation building where we have no business. Plus they're dumb as a rock.
There I said it.
"It is well that war is so terrible, or we should grow too fond of it" - General Robert E. Lee

Why? The military has exceeded it's enrollment quota's....
He should have a conversation with Hegseth. I'm sure ole Pete could clear it up for him!

When the US - N. Vietnam Peace Treaty was signed in 1973 the US had won every single major battle of the war and S. Vietnam controlled something like 80% of the entirety of Vietnam. The South fell because the north almost immediately attacked S. Vietnam once the US military began leaving and the US did nothing to help.
Did we win? No, because S. Vietnam fell after we pulled out, but we definitely didn't lose based on the situation when we peaced out.

South Vietnam was a free and independent nation when the US withdrew in 1973. If you don’t want to call it a win, fine. But you can’t call it a loss militarily.

Why were we fighting Viet Nam, besides satisfying the Military Industrial Complex?
I know we lost a hell of a lot of young men. I don't remember what was gained.

So what was the point if the South fell to communism two years later? All that for 2 years of no communism in South Vietnam?

If Trump has done a Leroy Jenkins on mid-terms it won't matter.

These are good questions and literally the reason why the war was controversial.
When the govt doesnt offer a clear explanation, people fill in the gaps with their own bias.

If all people (men and women) were forced to serve in the military for 2 years after high school, America would be better for it. AWFL's might not be so awful.

Maybe, but it wouldn't be good for the military. 20-somethings today who want to be there are enough of a pain in the arse without adding in a bunch of screw-ups just trying to get kicked out.
