News Punch

They said the Constitution does not allow capital punishment for anything short of a homicide,” DeSantis began, referencing a Supreme Court from a decade ago.

“The problem with that you have some of these sex predators that will abuse these very very young children, do it habitually, and I’m just thinking to myself, you’re ruining those kids’ lives– those are innocent kids.”

DeSantis went on to suggest that the current Supreme Court would “not uphold” the previous ruling, thus his administration would begin “exploring ways to facilitate” capital punishment for such criminals, a proposition that was met with a round of applause from those in attendance.

“We understand it’ll be a challenge,” he continued, “but I think it’s ripe for us to challenge a decision that wasn’t well thought out.”

“What we know we can do regardless of how the Supreme Court stuff shakes out, is we do wanna ensure that the minimum sentence for these predators who are raping these young kids, that they do at least get life in prison because they will re-offend if you put them back on the streets.”

“These people don’t care,” DeSantis said of child sex criminals, referring to them as “the worst of the worst.”

“They are unrepentant, they don’t care about these children; they will do whatever they can do to satiate themselves at the expense of very very vulnerable people.”

Florida currently has some of the strictest punishments and restrictions for sex offenders in the nation, with the latest announcement proof that DeSantis is prepared to take things to the next level.

Well that's not true. The Rosenbaums (sp?) were executed for espionage.

And a lot of Commie Leftists still try to claim that the Rosenbergs weren't spies...even though Russia and the Verona papers have confirmed that they were.

I’m opposed to the death penalty but if if I wasn’t I’d have no problem making child molesters eligible for it.

I’ve always opposed this for one reason. It basically incentivizes the pedo to kill the victim. That’s why I would reserve it for murder. I don’t want to give them a reason to murder their victims to ensure silence.

I’m just curious as to why you’re against it? Personally, I think if someone premeditates a murder, which is generally what would prompt the death penalty, then they should expect to be on the hook for “equal”treatment as far as losing their life. Even so, the death penalty is most likely much more humane than how they dispatched their victim(s) plus they get to live a lot longer than their victim(s) did as the legal process plays out.

If this is true, Newspunch?, I'd like to think pedos would migrate the frick out of Florida.

A win for that state.

I'd need to see a study on that. Are pedophiles killing their victims less now after Kennedy v Louisiana outlawed capital punishment for pedophiles?

I’m against murder, state sponsored or otherwise.

Uh.. I've got no problem with the death penalty.

Just that it's going to be a slippery slope if we start executing people for more and more crimes.

It's pedophilia now (which is obviously egregious) but then it becomes theft and then other crimes etc.

Plus, I guarantee that innocent people will be killed because of this.

While it makes sense I think the death penalty doesn't have the incentive effect that people think it does.

Florida hasn't executed anyone in 3.5 years, and has had countless death sentences overturned in that period. This definitely isn't gonna expedite the process resuming. If it's heinous enough to be a capital offense, not sorry you get the penalty... but I recognize where scotus and our state supreme Court are going with the DP.

Well the pedo already killed the child’s life in a sense. The child is mentally and emotionally fricked for the rest of their life.
