Sentence should have been death, but how in the hell does someone get a lighter sentence than life without parole for murdering a six-year-old? That one is on the Kentucky legislature.

On July 29, he was released again with no parole or supervision requirements after officials determined he had reached his adjusted serve-out date.
It seems like he should be on some type of supervision to ensure he is compliant with his medication or treatment for the illness that caused him to offend in the first place.

I feel that we, as a society, are losing our grip on virtue in the pursuit of ethics. We have become rule followers, but our grip on morality is slipping away.
A society is only as good as its citizenry's ability to police itself first. When we fail at basic tests of morality and justice, then we are on the highway to hell.
What good is a justice system that doesn't dispense justice? What good is a government that fails in its basic obligation to the people? Once trust is lost in the institutions, then those institutions must be destroyed and rebuilt with principled men (while they still exist.)
