Erickson: Iran Deal is a Bad One

Erick Erickson slammed the deal in his newsletter today. Yes, I read the Victor Davis Hanson piece. He made good points as always but curiously did not mention the ballistic missile part.
I tend to agree with EE here. The ballistic missiles are a real problem. Iran won't need nukes if it can use its missiles to threaten the whole region, Europe, or even here. Doesn't matter who pays it, they get $300 billion, what do you think they will do with it? Remember, Biden gave them billions and they turned around and used it to fund October 7.
This is a bad deal. period.
quote:
The Memorandum of Understanding has now been released by the White House. It was originally read out to conservatives by phone before the text was actually released. This is notable because for three days, the Vice President of the United States and the White House have formally disputed — and loudly disputed — that all of the leaked texts were the Memorandum of Understanding. Now we have the actual Memorandum of Understanding released by the White House, and it turns out all the leaks were true. In other words, for three days, the White House lied and denied that the leaks were the real memo, and it turns out they were. And it is as bad, if not worse, than people thought.
... In fact, one of the key terms of the deal is that the Iranians will be able to spend their $300 billion economic fund on whatever they want, including terrorism, with no restrictions from the United States. Yes, according to the terms of the text of the Memorandum of Understanding, the Iranians will be able to process and use their money for anything they wish according to the Central Bank of Tehran.
Up next, the president said in Europe today, Iran will be able to keep its ballistic missiles. The original purpose of going into Iran when we did was to stop Iran from the ballistic missile program. Allow me to read you some quotes that are deeply relevant to this. Quote, “The United States is conducting an operation to eliminate the threat of Iran’s short-range ballistic missiles. The purpose of this is to destroy that missile capacity. Our mission and our focus is the destruction of their ballistic missile capabilities. I’m telling you what the objective of the operations are. The objectives of the operation are to destroy their ballistic missile capability and make sure they can’t rebuild it and make sure they can’t hide behind that to have a nuclear program. That’s the objective of the mission.” That was Marco Rubio on March 2nd, 2026.
According to the president today, under the terms of the memorandum of understanding, Iran will now get to not only keep but also grow the ballistic missile capability that we said that going into Iran was designed to stop. If you will recall, Marco Rubio argued that they had so many ballistic missiles, they were getting to the point where no defensive systems could protect countries trying to take out Iran’s nuclear missiles. So they had built essentially a ballistic missile shield, where if anyone went in to try to stop their nuclear missile program, Iran had so many ballistic missiles, they could destroy any country and overwhelm their defensive batteries. Now, according to the terms of the deal, Iran will be able to keep that capacity and grow it.

Hey Erckson, he also said that if they don't behave, the bombing starts again. Why didn't you mention that, dumb arse????

No amount of logic will sway the sycophants here. If Trump does it, it must be good. If Trump tears it up in 2 weeks, it was all part of the plan.

Yes
Hilarious how, like everyone on here, JD did the same routine of first calling it a damned lie, then bending in the familiar humiliation to defend what would have been indefensible only yesterday.

It is a historically bad outcome for the US and will cause a lot of suffering in the future.
Iran came out much stronger than they were before. It’s astonishing. We bombed their military and are signing a document that pays to rebuild it all. Shame on our citizens and leaders.

Objectives:
-destroy ballistic missile program
-destroy their nuke program
-destroy the govt leadership and have a new govt
Am I right on these objectives?
What have we accomplished exactly?
Now maybe they behave because of fear of attacks from the US again. But they stood their ground this time. Why wouldn't they next time?
This was a blunder. Will we really be able to stop them from producing a nuke?
