Obviously it could have happened exactly the way he described - however outlandish and unlikely that is.
Or, he could have been assaulted by a domestic partner whom he does not want to be prosecuted.
Or, he could have been injured in a household accident or other type of assault and chose to handle it this way. A bizarre branch of wanting to be part of a #MeToo type situation of the mythical white racist attack on black folks (in Chicago of all fricking places).
