The industry source disputed Musk's account,
At telling Elon who hacked his company. I am sure all those accounts coming from Brazil,US, etc were VPNs. That's why Elon said originating from Ukraine

Right. But people are going to jump to conclusions right now for political reasons either in defense of Ukraine or to further their "frick Ukraine" position. For anyone that is assuming Ukraine did this I'd like to know what they think Ukraine has to gain from going after Elon like this. That's the harder sell to me and why I'm curious to hear the rationale.
It could be ukraine citizens being paid bitcoin from Elon to do this. I really dont know.
I'm just saying don't dismiss it coming from inside the borders of Ukraine.
Maybe that's a better way to frame it vs it coming from Ukraine.

Agreed. I wouldn't rule anything out at this point. But I find it harder to buy into Ukraine doing this at this particular moment in time. Relations with the US are already challenged so why do something that will further destabilize that relationship? But if I wanted to sabotage them... this would be an easy way to achieve that and sabotage could from an internal or external source.

Or maybe that's the exact thing the Ukrainians would hope you think and will use as their denial of guilt
The IPs leveraged are almost certainly anonymized through a VPN, otherwise they could see the specific endpoints used and the hackers would likely be identified. Other possibility is that they leveraged “popped” endpoints in Ukraine but that would point to it intentionally being set up to look like a Ukrainian attack. Obviously don’t have the data in front of me but I’d be willing to bet this isn’t a Ukrainian attack.

Ukrainains would have to crazy to attack X. If Musk turns off starlink it is over for them
Disable starlink. See what happens. Elon and team are so far beyond our basic grasps. I bet they know with decent precision

No way the real X attackers used a masked VPN (like I often do) so that Ukraine would be blamed, right? Nah, the Russians would never do that...

All the Zelensky cult members taking the side of a foreign country over Elon.

Remember, that Ukrainian outfit had Musk on their kill list.

and no way the team at X looking into where they came from has any tools better than what you have to track them

They wouldn’t be able to look at the originating address. They would likely look at threat actor owned infrastructure, IOCs, and TTPs associated with the attack to identify who is behind it.

He's counting on people believing that nonsense.

To go back to what I said earlier, if it is a specific data camp/VPN then some might play ball and provide the originating IP addresses. That takes a bit of time and TAs capable of this kind of attack would not use these services

Musk is lying. This is way too convenient for the agenda.

That's what I was thinking... didn't he get them Starlink after the Russians took out their internet?

Why do you think he's blaming Ukraine?
