Remember that when you're paying 15k for new batteries.

Remove government subsidies from EV’s and biofuel and it no longer exists. The free market knows it’s all full of crap. It’s a government scam.
This. EV is the biggest scam since covid.

Hybrids are good tho
Hybrid has been around for over 100 years in submarines and locomotives.
It's a much more rational approach than 100% electric.

I wonder why? Is it because they can't sell what they build, or are they selling at a loss?
I'd love to see their books broken down by division, but I suspect it is this. They are finding that to get the public to buy them, they are having to sell them at a loss right now and they are still expensive as frick.
1.) The business is not large enough to generate the economies of scale they have on their ICE vehicles
2.) They don't have a hundred years of experience learning how to build these monstrosities efficiently

You're talking currently about hundreds of millions of greenhouse-gas generating internal-combustion engines EVERY DAY on American roadways. Replacing the current polluting fleet with electrics will drastically reduce the fouling of the air with carbon gases, and reduce the currently unsustainable rate of planetary heating.
Im headed to the farm after lunch for a few days.
Ill toss a few old tires on the brush piles we will be burning in your honor.
Planetary heating.
CC is bullshite. That giant radioactive reactor 94 million miles away has MUCH more to do with any changes in temperature than my ICE truck.

I had a 2013 G37 and now I have a 2023 Tesla Model 3 performance.

So we will bailing out the car companies again.
General Motors last time. Ford and who knows who this time. You would think these car manufacturers realize the majority of consumers do not want their EV bull crap. If they need a bailout for EV market failure I would tell them to pound sand.

I got a question for golfers. Most courses have electric golf carts. If you play long enough one of them will stop from a dead battery.
Question: Why does it always stop at the farthest point from the clubhouse?

I bought a Ford F350 to pull a trailer with dad's bulldozer on it. I found a great bumper sticker for it. It says "How bout I stick my carbon footprint right up your liberal arse?"

Yes they are selling at a loss because there would be almost zero demand for an EV if they sold them at a profitable price point.
And then the damn feral gooberment steals our tax $$$ to subsidize their failure due to being forced to produce the crap nobody wants to buy.

EVs should come with a dildo in the glove box.
Truck EVs should come with a gross.

quote:Everything should be justified with some cost/benefit analyses. For instance - ethanol. If it was a good idea then we would not be subsidizing farmers and biofuel producers because it would be profitable for both - if it worked out right. Plus, it ruins small engines unless you can find non-ethanol, which I go to great lengths for my small engines - which have a bunch.
The problem is pushing grossly impractical shite with the government rather than letting it flow with the market.
If they were serious about solving problems they would put nuclear back on the table for electricity. Not doing so is all one needs to know that it's a scam.

Exactly, they know they will get bailed out so selling at huge losses doesn't matter. GM,Ford, and Chrysler should have all failed in 2008. It's almost like they are government backed operations pretending to be private..

ask what his car note is on the Lighting, that's where you see all the savings!

Although electric subs and aircraft carriers work even better.....nuclear.

Like I'm even concerned about this. By the way my house has appreciated 100%. Waterfront property is the best.

Electric cars are impractical is so many ways, it would be hard to reduce it to a top ten list.

I get the feeling these directives get pushed back by the Dems or outright gutted by the GOP before 2030. It’s just not enough time to do it.
The realistic, environmentally friendly goal is requiring all new vehicles to be hybrids by 2030. Hybrid power trains can be manufactured cheaply and reliably now. It will not dramatically raise the floor on the market for new vehicles. It will complicate maintenance over long term ownership or buying used but not nearly to the degree of LiIon batteries.
My car is a turbo 4 with mild hybrid and it has great off the line speed because of the hybrid. I test drove a 6 cylinder with mild hybrid awhile back and it was very impressive off the line too. Hybrid doesn’t mean Prius speed and driving dynamics. The quality manufacturers use them well to maximize fuel efficiency and to provide initial torque to get you going.

Do you think will be awash in petroleum forever? Remember the length of history of man and the length of the era of petroleum. We have a long way to go and a long way without abundant petroleum.
I think I'll charge my truck tonight for the activities of tomorrow and my 45 mile round trip which I do five or more days a week. And I don't spend a minute at a gas station unless I want a soft drink.

Just buy what you damn well please...just like anything else. We have plenty of options to chose from....time will tell. Some of you would still be riding a horse and buggy, I'm guessing, given the chance....caveat emptor.
