I didn’t ask. I’m guessing he pays them slightly less per hour and doesn’t have to pay benefits which is a huge chunk of labor costs. He did say he always tries to hire as many legal ones as he can but there are just not enough to go around. He also, said you can knock out projects a lot faster because they will work 15 hour days if the sunlight allows for it. He is a pretty big Trump guy / conservative radio which surprised me a bit

It is not hard at all to find a non illegal person to clean your house. And for a lot less than 700 a pop.

First, the "cheap labor" is VERY overrated. The difference in illegal and legal is also the lack of the employer paying SS, med/medicare, unemployment, etc. There is far less need for insurance, no worries about legal for HR issues or labor laws.

Second, our labor costs in the US are some of the highest in the world. How much do you earn? Ever consider the cost of pumping your own gas, checking your tires? How about you additional life insurance so you can stand in line at the ATM? Self check out at the grocery? Wait forever in line at Disney or a ballgame? While corporations have preened to wall street about "productivity gains" all they did was pass the labor to their customers.

Third, we have had migrant visas for picking crops for 50 years, that is such a tired argument.

Fourth, During the start of WW2 we had the largest, percentage wise, increase of labor in the history of the country. We took a car plant making cars with 15,000 parts to b24 bombers making 450,000 parts and we did it with a workforce who not only had never even worked on planes, much less cars, they hadnt worked at all......they were women. I think we can train some lazy kids to hammer nails and put on a roof.
