Bad money works both ways. It would dissuade corporations, bundlers, and PACs from spending massive amounts on much more competitive races, and it would make it more difficult for legislators to monetize their time in Congress.

If it’s good enough for the POTUS...

1st things 1st.

How do you propose installing any kind of term limit?

Who passes such legislation? Do ya really think a career politician is gonna cut off his career?

Do you think somehow the issue will just turn up on a ballot for the public to vote upon? That career pols will just let it happen unopposed?

Yes, term limits would require the DNC and RNC to put money into areas that they haven't had to do real campaigning in in some time. Think Nancy Pelosi's or Mitch McConell's seats. The more the 2 big guys have to split their focus and budget the more of a chance a third party has to sneak through and gain traction.

Flat salary. All previous assets frozen/controlled by some unknown group.

Flat contribution to whatever retirement fund, but they aren't allowed to know which one.

Once termed out, a 10 year grace period for lobbying gigs.

I don't see what would change. It would just accelerate the timeframe for these people to deal themselves into the club.

Grandfather clause would help persuade current congress to go for it. The ones already in office would be immune to the limit.

But yeah I agree with you they won't give up that power willingly.

Yes, term limits would help. Professional bureaucrats is what has gotten us into this situation. They should also repeal the 17th amendment and allow the States to have representation. Would make local politics so much more important as the Governor would not only run the state, but have their say in the Senate as well.

The number of club members gets too high. Post congressional Cush jobs get more selective. Enriching families (Hunter) becomes more difficult.

Yes. If coupled with significant reform to disallow these filthy cocksuckers to become lobbyists when they leave office.

Do you think term limits for Congress would actually help our situation? I find myself torn on this. On one hand, career politicians have proven that they only care about and look out for themselves. On the other hand, there are so many off kilter, woke idiots in the world that I'm not sure if having new blood in congress would actually help.

There's little doubt congressional term limits would hinder/cripple the Swamp System, but there must be limits for high ranking bureaucrats too. I think if you can limit the time of these power hungry rat bastards to less than 15 years of Swamp service the constant turnover would benefit the American people.

Your question is also easily answered with another question. Could the implementation of congressional and bureaucratic term limits make D.C. any more corrupt than it is?

The answer is clearly no.

Absolutely. It would take a tremendous amount of bad money out of the process.

Know what else would help?

Congress members are public servants. As such, it should be mandatory for them to disclose the source of every single penny they make for two years leading up to office, during their term, and for 10 years after their term ends.

That old water hag Pelosi has no business in multi million dollar mansions with twin $25,000 freezers just for her high-end ice cream.

If we had term limits we probably wouldn't have had Joe Biden. He would have had to have found a real job 30 years ago.

Yes, but so would eliminating some of the civil service rules to make it easier to remove entrenched, career, partisan bureaucrats.

I understand why people think it would be a good idea but when was the last time you voted for the position of FBI agent? When was the last time you voted for head of the EPA? When was the last time you voted for the head of the CDC? So much of the problems caused in Washington are being caused by people we aren't electing to begin with.

The Administrative State is what is doing the real damage to this country, but the elected Congress allows this to happen.

No. Here is why.

The federal government is massive. There are way more lifers on the government payroll in random bureaucratic agencies than in Congress.

If you pass congressional term limits, you must also pass employment term limits for government employees and contractors.

Term limits just make the bureaucrats more powerful.

The party is still choosing who is allowed to run. You’ll get the same crooks we do now.

We live under an oligarchy.

Money is power. And the richest Americans dictate policy to the politicians.

Absolutely not.

Should it be done? YES

A very wise man told me several years ago.

Term limits isn’t the answer.

It’s the lifelong bureaucrats in DC that are running our country.

We are watching it play out in real time since the first day they started to take Trump out.

You have term limits. It's called voting.

What I think would actually help is a weekly report on tv, Facebook, the internet, etc. of what your elected officials actions were.
