We must end these "right to work" attitudes found among government workers. No person is in this world to pay hard earned money to someone who is not needed. If a person wants value, go create it yourself.

I feel bad for such people who lose their jobs.
Because I feel bad for them doesn’t mean the overgrown goliath that is our federal bureaucracy should continue on in perpetuity.
Regular people in the private sector lose their jobs sometimes too.

I don’t care if you are a good person or not. If you do a pointless job, my tax dollars should not pay you.

Why don’t you hire him then?

Your friend has chance to go in February with a years severance.
If he wasn't overpaid, he'd have jumped at that.

Why do you keep referring to your friend in the past tense? Did he die? Did Trump steal his credentials and professional experience from him thus rendering him a FORMER civil engineer?
You’re attacking me because I made an opinion that you don’t agree with.

In all honesty... I really dont give a frick about govt workers

Having worked in the federal government for a very short period, I can assure you that 95% of permanent government employees are very liberal Democrats who work for the federal government because they don’t want any sort of accountability for their laziness. Most could never make it in the private sector.
Certainly, there are exceptions. In fact, I’ve worked with certain long-term government employees after they left the government to work in the private sector. They spoke about how much harder it is in the private sector, and how the government jobs were the definition of DEI failure and the Peter Principal.
In short, I don’t think the Republicans have much to worry about when it comes to laying off entrenched government workers. The vast majority of them have never and will never vote for a Republican in their life.

And what about politicians who make $200,000 a year and end up becoming millionaires in a couple of years?

Why are you mad at Trump, he didn’t do this. Schumer wants to give all your money to illegal aliens. Trump is doing the right thing but not allowing it

What is your point?
Everyday people get laid off all the time and have far less job security
They can be everyday people who are also ticks on the artery of the taxpayer

Boo fricking hoo. Like all of us in the private sector don’t have to weather the storm and deal with all this shite every day of our lives. My industry got wiped out two years ago, I haven’t said a fricking word. Cry me a fricking river and then go tell your Dem buddies to not frick over your friend on account of giving some Mexicans taxpayer funded healthcare. Also quit whining, ya puff.

The market for engineers is oversaturated with new grads that have no skills or work experience. There are way too many engineers relative to what the current demand for engineers is.
That's not true. Now that might be the case where he lives so he might have to move, but there are plenty of places where engineers are in high demand. Tell him to move to Huntsville, AL, Midland, TX, Walla Walla, WA, Columbus, IN or any number of other engineering towns and he'll have no problem finding an engineering job.

Here’s the problem: he’s very young and hasn’t been working as an a engineer for very long
You said he had 2 children and is trying to pay off his mortgage? Not saying it isn't possible that he could've started his family and bought a house before he was financially stable enough to afford it, but if so then that is on him.

Somebody call the wambulance. Your “friend” was sucking off the govt teet and most likely votes D straight down the ticket.
He’s getting what he has coming, my real hope is there’s no back pay for most of those on furlough.

We are 38 trillion dollars in debt. Our belt has to be tightened to essential jobs only. I hope your friend is essential.

The pay scale for federal workers, with all the benefits, is competitive with the private sector. In addition job security, when the dimtards aren't shutting down the government, is far superior to the private sector.
Why should federal workers be immune from the pitfalls of the private sector?

But that doesn’t mean we have to support them.
Would you support me? Seriously???

It's not about being a good person or not. Jobs do have risk. It's not permanent. Just like the O&G field. When it's good it's good when it's bad overhead goes first. Been there a few times myself.
You blaming the wrong people.
