I think once you're done you should be done.
I also think that we need more than a dichotomy of "felony" and "misdemeanor" to limit the effects of the conviction moving forward.

I think it was a mistake.
Being a U.S. citizen should be special.
It should be something meaningful.
Now not only does it have almost no meaning, it's a disadvantage.

Just going to use this as fodder to attack honest gun owners. Kinda smart actually. Make sure illegals can have guns so they commit all kinds of crimes with them and then put the aftermath on the news. Strict rules for gun possession for the honest law-biding citizen, but let all kinds of shite slide for the illegal with a gun.

My question is this; laws (the constitution) are created to govern the government and citizens of the USA, how can a non citizen benefit from laws and constitutional rights in the USA?
In one hand, I’d say we have human rights that the first amendment outlines (freedom of speech, religion, protest, etc) but where do these rights end for foreign citizens? In the other hand, they are foreign citizens, who are not supposed to be here in the first place.
I am the strongest proponent of “Shall not be infringed”; I’m a strong proponent of constitutional carry laws, it’s the right of the citizens of the USA. But these are not citizens of the USA, who are here illegally! If we can’t trust them to follow laws, such as immigration laws, driving legally, etc. how can we trust law breakers to function in a civil society of laws?
However, this is an interesting situation.
