I know the Trump-centric crowd refuses to believe the administration bumbled this… but for all intents and purposes what did we accomplish besides killing the supreme leader who probably would have died from old age in a year or two…we so called obliterated their armed forces 3 months ago but they somehow still controlled the strait with no navy…

No not technically but we failed to achieve anything good or useful. So yeah, our government are losers here. fricking embarrassing.

Can we replace Trump with JDV already? Jesus Christ what a shite show.

No

We lost the war between Conservative perspectives or more aptly stated "common sense" and the "liberal media bias," ...and as evidence here you can see how easily weak minded people are influenced.

No one will know the answer to that question for probably at least 2-3 years.

Anybody who makes definitive statements about what we did or didn't accomplish is delusional at this point and just talking out of their arse.

And yet, Iran closed the Strait again...they will never agree to anything.

It’s a compounding L every day Iran keeps the Strait closed. The L will just get bigger and bigger. If it keeps going it will become more than just an L.

Yep.

But if it pushed their nuclear program back 5 years (which again, no one knows whether it did or not at this point), then it accomplished something. Even if it was at a high cost.

I don’t know. I am not knowledgeable enough about the situation. That much I do know.

What material benefit has the average taxpayer gained from this excursion?

Higher gas prices, higher cost of goods, tax money to defense contractors to resupply our armament reserves.

All they needed to do was survive and cause economic chaos. I think they accomplished that and we are just beginning to feel the economic effects of the conflict -- that will be fully realized late summer/early fall.

What is your understanding of the likely global impact of a nuclear exchange between Iran and Israel?

Since you framed this in economic terms, feel free to prioritize the economic angle in the answer to the question I just asked.

We killed a bunch of their leaders and destroyed their military. Time will tell if we've actually done anything, but Trump couldn't do what was necessary to completely win this thing. I can't say i would have been able to do it either. The only people that would have suffered were the Iranian people.

As has been said before Iran as a navy or military didnt close anything. They claimed they mined it. And shot a few drones and Lloyd's of London basically quit writing insurance policies and shippers weren't willing to send ships through with no insurance.

Hence 2 destroyers and 2 cruisers non stop back and forth providing cover opens the strait.
