Chris Jones Plans NIL Donation To Help Mississippi State Retain Kamario Taylor

Former Mississippi State star Chris Jones is ready to do his part to help the Bulldogs keep quarterback Kamario Taylor in Starkville.

Speaking with reporters Thursday in Kansas City, Jones said he plans to donate to Mississippi State’s NIL efforts with Taylor emerging as a key player for the Bulldogs.

“I’m going to donate some (NIL), though, we’ve got to keep this quarterback — we’ve got to keep him around,” Jones said. “With all these NIL teams spending $45-50 million a year, the salary cap doesn’t exist in college, so definitely trying to keep our quarterback with us.”

Jones also praised Taylor’s play and potential, saying Mississippi State needs to make retaining him a priority in today’s NIL and transfer portal era.

“I think we have one of the best the FBS right now, he’s doing really, really well for us, and he’s young,” Jones added. “We just have to keep him on our roster, because the NIL has changed everything. … Definitely believe in our guys, got a lot of belief in Mississippi State right now and KT.”

Taylor has been one of the SEC’s breakout players through three games this season, throwing for 832 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 178 rushing yards. His 1,010 yards of total offense lead the SEC, while his 11 passing touchdowns are tied for second nationally.

Taylor and Bulldogs will face No. 19 Missouri on Saturday. Kickoff is at 6:45 pm on the SEC Network.
