The other is simply a matter of convenience. A perfectly competent person can designate someone to act on his behalf, often because they cannot be present themselves or because they do not want to be bothered with certain types of decisions
From what OP quoted, it does appear the POA is a limited POA as a matter of convenience so her daughter can handle parts of her late husband's estate.
But the baggier picture question I have is if she's not of sound mind to make any decisions (alluded to by many in this thread), then how would she be of sound mind to sign a POA?
Posted on 8/4/23 at 10:45 am to Weekend Warrior79
that is a perfectly valid question, although a completely different question and that presented in the OP.
Would I be comfortable investigating whether DiFi is NCM? Based upon what we see of her on a daily basis, yes I would be completely comfortable with that.
But the execution of a limited POA is not probative on the point, as implied in the OP.

Are you or your wife going to be making any decisions that will affect the whole country as well as future Americans? Pretty easy to understand why politicians of any party who have shown obvious mental decay having POAs is an issue.
Unless of course someone is being intellectually dishonest.

Is DiFi competent at this point? I do not know, but certainly less so than ten years ago. (language you deleted has been added back)
It was a simple vote, and she thought it was a debate.
Getting confused (even often) is not probative of NCM. It is certainly "evidence," and I said above (again) that I would be entirely comfortable investigating whether she is in fact NCM.

Guys...when it comes to topics like this one, you should listen to Hank. He's 100% right and most of you commenting in this thread just look ignorant.
What kind of shite is that? I hope that was sarcasm. If not, you should be embarrassed.
How about this: On all other topics you should listen to other posters on this board. They are 100% right, and you are so very often wrong, Mickey. It just makes you look ignorant.
I can't count the number of times the vaunted barrister Hankabitch has had his arse handed to him on this board. Both in legal matters and especially common sense matters. You go ahead and listen to him. I'll think for myself.

Who cares? If she quits or dies, Newsom will appoint a Dem interim Senator who will probably not run for the seat in 2024. In 2024, the Dems will vote in her successor. She’s CA and Schumer’s problem.

America is a feudalism society. Feinstein is royalty, her blood, even if she's blind, deaf, and dumb, is superior to yours.
You are a scum pleb that cannot compare to her.

Ever the condescending prick, Hanky. I guess we shouldn’t have discussions and debates around here, we should just endeavor to ascertain the opinion of the one poster who is always correct, every time. God complex much, Hanky?

The Hill said it best on their YouTube channel this morning: Fedgov is becoming tax-payer subsidized hospice.

The OP and many in this thread appear to believe that executing a POA is indicative of losing your mental acuity. Hank simply points out that is not necessarily the case. He is then attacked for "defending" Feinstein.
IF some of y'all could simply set aside your emotions for a second and carry on a pointed discussion on a specific topic, you'd see the disconnect.

In Feinstein’s case, which would you bet on?
Able or unable to take care of her own life any longer?
I know what I’d bet on.

I never said he is always right all the time on all topics. I said on topics like this one where it is a simple legal matter that most attorneys understand, you should probably listen to him.

Oh I'd agree with you. She's losing/lost it. Executing a POA relating to a legal battle over her late husband's estate is not, in itself, indicative of anything though.
Posted on 8/4/23 at 11:46 am to Mickey Goldmill
Is it limited to that?

Agreed.
However, in this case I think it’s safe to say Feinstein is struggling.
Her cognitive health—based on a wealth of evidence—isn’t optimal for someone who is in a leadership position.
I’m absolutely willing to set aside my emotions on this issue.
But you need to do the same.
We have a (non-partisan) problem in this country with unfit, aged politicians serving past their optimal time in government.
