My first thought as well. Why would something so damaging be entrusted to a bunch of buck sergeants?
If there's any truth to this at all, the recruiter's probably took him for a dumbass and told him to hurry up and join before he gets drafted.

To my knowledge, Trump has said nothing related to reinstated the draft. However, military service might be just what is needed to whip some of the liberal snowflakes into shape.

When I joined the USAF, we had about 600k troop strength. Now, I believe we about 300k. I left in 2013 after 21 years. They started to scan members medical records to proceeded with discharging people at mass rate.

I'd be OK with it asumming a lot of stipulations.
If they called me up now I wouldn't fight it so long as I received an opportunity at a commission and OCS commensurate with my education and experience.

There were 4 million births per year in the years coming up on 18 years old.
Even if 10% died that's 3.6 million 18 year olds a year.
In 2014 there were 1.354 million active duty personnel in the ENTIRE military
If 2 years services were required of everyone that would be 7-8 million people every 2 years.
