I was also in the army, and served in OEF Kandahar, Afghanistan. I would not want some safe space needing liberal watching my back. If there was another draft, all of the liberals and registered democrats need to be assigned to the DFAC, or supply. Putting a gun in their hands would only increase the chance of failure against the enemy, and positively increase the chance of friendly fire.

1 year wouldn't be enough, the military spends lots of $ on training you so they need more than 1 year of service before you quit
