it wouldn't be a 70% tax on the undefined rich

probably just extend the current tax bracket, which may be what he meant anyways. 70% above 1 billion or something. Which is still a good way to end up dead of "natural causes".

But I personally don't think extending it by a few % up to 100M or 250M or so is unreasonable.

Ever notice how all the well off people think they shouldn't be subject to these rules? It's always the liberals pulling in 300k/year that think they're not the rich ones who should have to pay up

That was De Blasio's message the entire night. "Take money from the Capitalists and give it to the Democrats in government instead; we will distribute responsibly. We promise this time!"

That dude is straight up Big Government Socialist.

So are we talking wealth taxes as well as income taxes?

How many people in this world are making 100 or 250 million a year in income?

Maybe those 6 other people should've come up with as good of an invention or business idea as the guy who has 7 Lambos then.

I'm personally referring to income tax. But I'm also no accountant nor economist.

exactly my point

but the other point is that there would be various other brackets beneath that. It would go up to that point. There are plenty of millionaires making 10M+.

I don't see the issue with this. We already have a bracket system that is tiered. Simply extending it shouldn't matter to the masses.

Who gets to decide what the right hands are to have money? Will they decide that I shouldn't have as much money?

No thanks, I don't want others making decisions about my financial future, for better or worse. I'd rather not be financially enslaved to my government.

Those people are already paying the vast majority of taxes.

Maybe fix the problem with the people spending it

Why don't people like DeBlasio talk about immigration inequality? You know how certain people have to wait years and years and take a test to become a citizen while others are simply allowed to come in illegallly.

What about work inequality? Where many people have to work hard for a living while others fake disabilities to avoid work.

They only want to focus on certain inequalities.

You're not entitled to any of it unless you earned it, Mayor DeBlasio.

You believe like lots of Libs that there is only a certain amount of pie to go around, and in order for you to have a slice, someone else has to give up theirs. It's faulty thinking.

We don't already pay for it? How has the US been able to operate for a couple of hundred years?

couldn't agree more

I already am. I pay more in taxes than most people earn in a year's salary. It sucks. But I'm fine with it as it funds defense, medicaid and other assistance programs my family used growing up. Without those, I wouldn't have gotten to where I am today, so I am grateful.

It could certainly be utilized more wisely, that we can agree on.
