What did Poso say?
Posted on 3/4/26 at 8:19 am to SlowFlowPro
I mean they just killed 20k people in the streets this past year and have been funding terrorism for 50 years. I don’t know how “stable” you can really call what they had going.

It’s legal for their government to kill people. Checkmate.

Hahaha what. Guy is a fricking idiot.
The only time I’ve seen him “debate” he got fricking leveled by someone of actual intelligence

And this is like the 4th or 5th time this has happened since the GWB admin. I had hope one of those would result in change but it ends up in the same place. That's why I shifted from optimism to "show me".

I thought we were discussing the stability post-war.
In the ME, when you remove the main power broker, especially if you destroy the institutions of the former authoritarian society, typically you end up in sectarian violence from multiple groups fighting to become the new authoritarian power. And taking sides marks you from the out-groups as a target for life.
Remember when ISIS had the checkpoints and literally pulled out laptops with databases to check people to see if they had committed grievances in the (sometimes distant) past?

People can change their opinions of him based off of shite said.
Posted on 3/4/26 at 8:28 am to Fun Bunch
That's fine if you don't like his opinions. I certainly don't agree with everything he says, but he knows a lot of the subject matter and the history of how a lot of conflicts came to be, which I find interesting.
I thought he held his own against Douglas Murray on Rogan and with Josh Hammer. Both of those guys came across as pompous douchebags.
Konstantin Kisin really pushed the envelope with him and debated him well I thought.

Most of the libertardian wing are anarchists. They hate this country just as much as the leftists
Dave should share a prison cell with Massie, traitors

No. He doesn’t. He thinks he does and he packages it to fools.
When confronted with people of real knowledge he looks like an idiot and lashes out.
Murray completely dismantled him in a measured and intelligent way. You think Murray came across as pompous because he was beside himself at times as to how stupid Smith is and how sure of himself he was on things he was completely wrong on.
I was shocked at how polarizing that interview was and it made me realize I live in a different reality than some people.

My first thought; It still surprises me that people in general seem to become appalled when other people think quite differently than they think and subsequently voice their opinions regarding such thoughts.
My second thought: Why should I be surprised? It’s been that way forever. I blame me for my first thought.
It’s none of my business that Dave Smith, whom I never heard of until right now, thinks that way in one moment and vocally expresses that thought. It’s also none of my business that his comment upsets others; as long as I don’t let it upset me.
I’ll continue to TRY to not care about useless diatribe from people like Dave Smith on all sides of politics, as well as the offense such harangue causes others.
Sometimes I’ll fail at trying that. I’m human. Most of the time I won’t.

Libertarians are just as annoying as Liberal democrats....probably more so.

Poso supports Trump but he also believes it this operation drags on it could usher the Democratic Socialist back into power.

Ahh yes, the old bury your head in the sand and pretend nothing outside the continental United States is our business and doesn’t concern us strategy. A great mindset to embrace if it were 1820, but an absolutely asinine mindset in today’s global environment. You morons will be the first and the loudest to bitch and moan if gas hit 10 dollars a gallon or your cheap trinkets from China tripled in price or were cut off altogether. Go live in the fricking woods if you want to embrace your ridiculous isolationism. The rest of us will live in reality. You either protect your interests or they will be taken from you!

It's because he is a know-it-all a-hole and when he was pushed on certain topics, he pivoted to "Well you're just a comedian and not an expert, so you shouldn't really be able to have an opinion on the matter"
I wouldn't say that you "dismantled" someone in a debate when that is your comeback when confronted on certain issues.

it isn't wrong. The CIA/mossad are the origins for almost all terrorist groups.
Posted on 3/4/26 at 8:49 am to Fun Bunch
We are either the world police or the world’s bully. Put aside political ideology for a moment and think about the CIA, and its predecessors, actions of the last 50+ years.
Vietnam - total waster fomented by intelligence agencies and MIC
Iraq - Same
Libya (and Arab Spring)
The War on Drugs (our government was neck deep - GHWB and Clinton - on the supply side and all the deaths that came with it).
Our country has been, in one way or the other, neck deep in many major conflicts wherein 100s of thousands have died in the last 50+ years.
Now, we have also been a stabilizing force and likely prevented no telling what else.
We are by no means just the good guys though.
