Her election night antics in 2016 were just plain embarrassing for her.

That was her true self exposed. She and her entire family lived off the teat and were entwined in the left wing lunacy. It took a man like Trump to pull back the facade.

People like to say this about leftists. If they were so smart, the wouldn’t espouse a political philosophy that has brought hundreds of millions of murders by government, and eventual collapse, every time it’s implemented.

Didn't typically agree with her, but I certainly miss the days of "boring" news featuring respectable people you'd probably nonetheless find to be enjoyable, interesting company over dinner or coffee.

So did she, but I kind of disagree with her premise.

I remember reading a column of hers back in the 90s, when she was lamenting the loss of civility in politics. She compared the 90s to her time growing up in Washington in the 50s and 60s, when elected officials and their families lived near each other, had barbecues and parties, the kids went to the same schools, etc. They could disagree on issues, but since they all were "in the same neighborhood" it was all nice-nice.

To me, this is an example of what the left prefers, a political elite class, and wrong as hell - elected officials keeping themselves (and their families) away from their home base, insulating them from their home state style of life and losing REAL touch with their constituency, and also immersing them in a more urban, liberal lifestyle.

Nowadays, most Washington politicians I know of (at least locally) keep their families at home and come home often (basically weekly) thanks to cheap and plentiful airfare options.

Roberts in that column pretty much stated she didn't like the way it changed, and wished that more elected officials should bring their families to Washington.

She spent decades concealing the depth of her political opinions and leanings so as to always come across as a “respectable” or “credible” author, journalist or opinion originator. Like so many others, 2016 ripped that band aid right off.

That band aid was off long before. Cokie and her husband presented every news report through their liberal lens like most of the media of their era. There was never any balance to their reports.

Same disease that killed her sister who was (?) mayor of a city in New Jersey.

There were times she had insights into DC that simply didn't occur to folks outside the beltway. Some of her comments about Newt Gingrich come to mind.

Isn't her brother still a powerful lobbyist in DC?

Regardless of her politics, Cokie was a

a strong woman, as well as a warm and generous friend to those who knew her.

Indeed, Mary Martha Corinne Morrison Claiborne Roberts (nee Boggs), was a descendant of Louisiana's first Governor, William C.C. Claiborne who served from 1812–1816.

And if sh was an actual journalist, rather than a leftist hack, nobody would have known her politics. She wasn’t supposed to be a pundit, a Hannity or Limbaugh, she was supposed to be a journalist. She was supposed to be a journalist. She was treated like a journalist. But she acted as a socialist democrat hack, part of the 99% of so-called journalists these days. So in reality, just like the rest, she was a liar, advocating the destruction of this country.

She battled the Big Casino for almost 20 years. That's a strong, admirable woman
