Nintendo sparked an uproar on Italian-American social media after revealing that Anglo-American star Chris Pratt, 42, would voice everyone’s favorite Italian plumber in the upcoming “Super Mario Bros.” film. The Japanese video game giant revealed the controversial casting decision via Nintendo Direct Thursday.

“Chris Pratt playing Mario is italiaphobia and i’m tired of acting like it isn’t,” bemoaned another incensed social media watchdog.

One poster even shared a GIF from “The Sopranos” referencing Silvio Dante’s immortal line: “It’s anti-Italian discrimination.”

Interestingly, few criticized the character of Mario himself, who is an Italian caricature created by Japanese game designer Miyamoto.

As an Italian-American, I don’t give any fricks about this. And as the article pointed out, the character itself is a “racial stereotype”.

I like how they're concerned about who's doing the voice acting rather than why the frick are they making a super Mario bros movie in the first place.

No one today even thinks of Mario as being Italian.

The Italian stuff is phony AF, and just a front for the sjw zombies who want to cancel Pratt across the board, in everything.

Or how about the Italian Indian shedding a tear for pollution back in the day?

Exactly. I saw they re-created The Wonder Years as a black family and was just irritated over it because you would never see Family Matters or The Cosby Show or The Jeffersons re-created with white people because that would be "racist."

Well, that’s certainly another way to say “pathetic loser”.

Half the characters in Scarface were Italians playing Cubans. Al Pacino, Robert Loggia, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio

Phobia. Another word that's completely lost its meaning.

Isn't Mario, the official mascot of one of Japan's largest companies, is officially depicted as having a stereotypical Italian accent.

I can consult with my friend who is of Italian descent. But he's a baw that probably won't give a shite.

He’s as known for his plumbing as Christ was for his carpentry.
