You know, there's a lot of off the wall fan fiction based on popular video game characters. Given the internet's record, I'm sure there is one written about Mario as a Christ like figure for the Mushroom Kingdom.

He warped for sins so we may be forgiven for consistently letting Bowser easily kidnap our princess.

Edit: Must be more a "I have nothing better to do than complain because I'm well off and bored". I grew up with a lot of people still steeped in Sicilian traditions their family kept for generations in a small rural town in a southern state. I cannot think of a single person including those I still keep in contact with that would ever be offended by this.

Political correctness and cultural appropriation will eat up Hollywood if the current trajectory continues. There will be no acting outside of the actor’s natural person (or what they identify as) mainly targeted at straight white actors. . Robin Williams couldn’t play Mrs. Doubtfire. Hanks couldn’t play the gay lawyer in Philadelphia. Billy Bob Thornton couldn’t play sling blade etc.

As an Italian-American, I don’t give any fricks about this. And as the article pointed out, the character itself is a “racial stereotype”.

Same here. Every time I “experience” something involving my Italian ethnicity, I’m reminded of how fricking stupid sensitive snowflakes are when it comes to these kinds of things.

Wow, being half Italian myself, I feel so fortunate to now be a member of an aggrieved minority. Wonder if I can get a safe place to play bocce ball.

Also I better not see any of you Anglo types or especially Irish types making pizzas or staring in Mob movies where you play a Dago guinea wop bastard anymore. That means the Godfather needs to be looked at. Sonny Corleone was played by James Caan who is Jewish....and the Don, God bless his soul, well, he was an Irish guy from Omaha....not to mention Tessio who was a kid who was actually a Russian Jewish.

All this cultural appropriation! Makes me want to " break some eggs" .KnowhatImean.....fuggedaboudit!!! Ohhhhh!

You're right. Despite Die Hard being one of my favorite Christmas movies but it can be offensive. You have a dirty brit playing a German terrorist as German people were thought to be terrorists in the 1980s.

That hurts mein Deutsch sensibilities here.

Exactly. I saw they re-created The Wonder Years as a black family and was just irritated over it because you would never see Family Matters or The Cosby Show or The Jeffersons re-created with white people because that would be "racist."

None of care but they made a black cinderella. Black British Royalty?

Italian's aren't a race, they are an ethnicity.

Dennis Hopper set the record straight in "True Romance". Maybe the southern Italian-Americans can claim two spots on the racial bingo card?
