Not to rain on your parade. You do realize that many GM and Ford parts are made in China? I guess it makes it better that it’s a Chinese/Mexican car kinda assembled in America? There is a reason most American’s would rather buy Japanese cars. Myself included. American manufacturers need to get their shite together. They don’t build anything people want short of full sized trucks.

Ford and Chevy, OTOH, need to make shite people will buy and not EV shitboxes.
GM already makes trucks in Mexico. Ford announced they will look at on UAW markets. That could mean Mexico or Right to Work states. They also announced that they will make cheaper EVs elsewhere.
The now radical UAW strike raised labor cost that that US OEMs cannot afford to pay.

Will the EV tax credits still exist by the time they come here?
There’s pretty much a zero percent chance they will qualify with the domestic content requirements.

Ask yourself, would you buy a Chinese motorcycle? No?
Then imagine buying a cheap Chinese automobile.

The kinds of people buying these are likely the ones buying cheap Nissan and Chrysler vehicles now. And both brands are pretty much a warning label of “Don’t be anywhere near me, I’m too fricking stupid to live.”

Just put them on China, frick China, they are the legit evil empire. Modern day nazis.

So? Chinese products are junk. If I’m paying $20 for something, I don’t care. No way in hell am I buying a Chinese auto. Japan and S. Korea? That’s a different story.

South Korea is still iffy at times.
Hyundai is somewhat comparable in quality to Toyota or Honda in build but I refused to buy one when I got my last car because of the various flaws making them easier to steal.
Current gen supposedly has that fixed but I am not hopeful that they are forward thinking about the next potential “KiaBoyz” theft idea and how to block it.

The people who want EVs don’t want cheap EVs. That is why so many are unsold now. No one wants to replace a cheap battery bank in 5-6 years that costs half of the original car price.

Ordinary people are increasingly poor. Cheap Chinese cars would be very successful.

Tax the crap out of these cars especially since the Chinese and Mexico want to flood us with Fentynl and illegals.
The nerve of these MFers.

This one of their cars. $5K EV.
Put a 3” lift and some BFGg’s and truck nuts. Be good for the deer camp.

Is it really that great of a leap of logic they would buy cheap, Chinese cars if they are 30% or so cheaper than others?
The American automotive market does everything they can imagine to frick carbuyers and make their lives as miserable as possible through the car buying process. As long as it met the same safety standards American cars are required to meet, I'd buy a much cheaper Chinese car just on principle alone.

Might have found my new pit car for when the Smart takes a dump.

This would be your problem.
They meet them on paper but, more likely, they find a way to scam the system like VW did on emissions and then bribe enough people to hold off on any punishment until they have run other companies out of the market.

Imagine buying a Chinese car, especially an EV. LOL.
When I was last in Europe I saw a lot. Was surprising

Americans will buy these insanely quick.
Also, the bid automakers are beating people over the head right now. 100k for a Tahoe? And they’re acting like they aren’t making money. fricking ridiculous

I will gladly buy a chevy volt “electric” car for my commuter vehicle, I will never own a electric car that only relies on batteries.

Our government will do what China tells them to do.
It’s as simple as that.
