I will repeat back to you what you just said, counselor. You said the teachings of the Bible and/or Jesus could be cut up a million ways to justify any governmental policy.

When pressed to give a specific example, you chose to justify it with "I could just ignore it" and did not use any Christian based beliefs to defend what we made "your" position, of which you yourself admitted that you believed there was a million ways to do.

Those Charlie Kirk shout fest videos is basically nothing more than young kids trying to play gotcha with each other. There is very little deep thought in the few that I have seen. Kirk has thought about his positions much more than the students that just vomit back what they are told to say.

Like it or not by the evangelicals adopting Trump he is seen as a figurehead of the religion and he is an absolutely terrible person by so many metrics in ways that run so counter to Jesus. It makes the while thing come off as cultish and hypocritical.

I agree with this. I think Pettifogger would as well.

Trump is a horrible person to endorse as a Christian, especially Christians in the public sphere.

That is a separate question from “Should I vote for the have the trannies read tranny stories to kids party?”

I didn’t argue religion and politics are the same thing.

I stated Christianity is inherently political.

this thread is not about political science takes on percentages from religious voters

it's about religious takes on percentages of religious voters

And tens of millions of democratic voters are Christian. People call me holier than thou...at least I'm not dictating to people whether they are "real Christians" or not.

Yeah - I think there are tons of pitfalls for the MAGA Christian and I’ve spoken plenty about my issues in conflating conservative politics with Christianity

But environmentalism isn’t inherently political. It’s a belief system that wishes to make its values the values that govern our lives.

You see it as something very different from religion because you don’t know anything about religion.

Has nothing to do with voting for murder, lawlessness and sexual immorality. Dems are evil according to Bible standards, hence can't be a true Christian and vote Dem.

The Catholics and even some Protestant lines make no distinction officially....or unofficial. My Parish Priest says that he would be compelled morally to care for illegal immigrants if they asked for his help and protection, and I would not necessarily call him a liberal priest

That's the thing about Christianity. It's " conservative" and "progressive" at the same time. The New Testament will challenge you....no matter what your political persuasion. You will find that even the most pious will have shortcomings, and sin and temptation are your ever present companions.

Maybe you could distort your views as some form of Christian but it is a fact that you cannot support both the democratic platform and truly believe in the teachings of the Catholic Church.

There’s many professing Christians who are banging someone else’s spouse, stealing from their employers, etc.

They don’t like to be told they’re wrong either. That doesn’t change.

How does a Christian support the abortion loving party?

Seems like a hard line.

That’s before we get into the child transitioning and kid porn book support.

1) You clearly don't understand the meaning of that parable from Christ.

2) What about the entire abortion thing? You think that is Christian?

3) How is the tranny push and the left actively exposing children to perversions? What do you think the penalty for that is?

Legal immigration, no problem there. The massive illegal immigrant flooding is a different issue.

we have 2 parties in this country and neither of them are Christian. Politicians embody everything Jesus stood against. You can argue on which party is worse sure but lets not act like either of them give a shite about faith. Faith is nothing but lip service for politicians.

I agree with all of that, but I don't think that's the point he's making.

Y'all need to catch up.

To justify using Christianity as a basis for political ideology, we are allowed to curate Christianity however we want, which means we get to ignore whatever scriptures are problematic for whatever policy we propose.

And, on a simpler note, they will just argue it's not a person, and Christianity doesn't dictate actions against bundles of cells and/or compare it to cancer treatment of tumors (I've seen this before)
