Chappelle Netflix special accused of transphobia lands Emmy nomination

Both Chappelle and the streaming giant faced an avalanche of criticism for the TV project, which mocked members of the transgender community and used crude terms to refer to a transgender person’s anatomy.
The National Black Justice Coalition and GLAAD were among the critics that condemned the standup comedy special when it debuted last year, calling it transphobic.
GLAAD said at the time that Chappelle’s brand had “become synonymous with ridiculing trans people.”
On Tuesday, “The Closer” was named one of five nominees in the Emmys’s “Outstanding Variety Special Pre-Recorded” category.

I listened to his speech at Duke Ellington last night and that prompted to listening to the closer on a long drive last night.
The Daphne story is the biggest F you to the trans activists packaged in a story you could pull off.

I watched some of Ricky Gervais Netflix special and he goes after the woke crowd and takes jabs at the "T" community as well. I don't understand why he isn't in their crosshairs. I guess racism is in the "T" community as well.

Great comedy means no group survives. We all have our idiosyncratic ways that are found funny by some group, and as long as everyone gets exposed, I can enjoy laughing at those perspectives. I like how Dave does this, and throws himself in the mix. And, if you ain’t getting trashed in a comic routine, you ain’t relevant, so even trannies need to understand, they are by his actions, relevant
