legal immigration
What this should look like in and of itself is a sticking point. Come to the border, show a fake id, and fill out a one-page five question form and you're in what these Liberals are after

Such bullshite. We've had plenty of rules in place for legal immigration over the years, with a backlog (at times) of people wanting to come here.

I’m ok with some legal immigration but it really went off the rails about 1900 when we started letting Italians in

This is why libertarians can't be taken seriously.

CATO seems very liberal. Is that supposed to be their thing?

Yeah!!!! They brought pizza with them.

Some say it happened when we let in the Irish.

Well then it's a good thing legal immigration is possible (and happens just about every day).

They posted it like they were dunking on conservatives then got crushed in the comments.

They're libertarian. Nobody reads their shite unless it's a leftwing hack looking for a gotcha.
They are, however, a good source for studies on things like Sports are Great, but Goverment Studies Stink
and infrastructure
quote:
Frequent calls to support infrastructure spending led to the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021. The law increased federal spending on infrastructure over five years by $550 billion. Unfortunately, the legislation did not tackle the distortions created by existing federal subsidies for infrastructure. Indeed, the law will increase distortions by expanding the scope of subsidies to include the broadband, electricity, and automobile industries. In turn, these new subsidies will likely encourage more private industries to lobby Washington for subsidies down the road

CATO is nowhere near liberal. It is an
organization that promotes traditional values. If anything it is libertarian in its politics…

Lol. They promote anything and everything just like good libertarians. They only oppose the government.

I do support legal immigration, and I do complain about illegal immigration.
Posted on 9/3/26 at 8:41 am to CarolinaGamecock99
I don’t support either

All of their takes recently seen on this site seem retarded, as this one is as well.
Libertarians are VERY close to the same level of retardation as liberals are.

I know your schtick, but they were vetted at Ellis Island and the ones that did not pass were immediately shipped back, paid for by the shipping companies.

They are libertarian and therefore support open borders. You know, the uninhibited free flow of people and ideas or however they term it,

No. This board probably agrees with 95% of their non-immigration based positions.
They are generally very pro-immigration though. I don't always agree with everything David Bier says, but overall we are very close on our positions.
Until the legal immigration system is reformed, the illegal immigration problem won't be fixed. Obviously here anything short of "no immigration" isn't an acceptable solution, but that's not a realistic position.

I didn't realize libertarianism meant either being so ridiculously ignorant of legal immigration laws or so willing to blatantly lie about their existence that they shouldn't even be allowed in the conversation.
