You have to take anything published "widely" like Cato with a grain of salt when it comes to libertarianism. It's infected with a lot of intellectuals that are the libertarian version of communists, "it'll work, it just hasn't been tried properly," type. Or, they tend to be the sovereign citizen whackjobs and similar.

Most actual libertarians are what most people would consider conservative: stay the hell out of my business, take less of my money, but I'm good with school buses and sewer systems.

I suspect the libertarian ivory tower hates people like Milton Friedman saying shite like,

They hate his simplicity, and that of fellows like Thomas Sowell. They ignore why Germany, France and the UK take inordinate amounts of economic refugees from the Middle East any why few refugees seem to want to stay in Portugal, Italy, Austria, etc.

I support legal immigration

Emergency Quota Act of 1921: Limited annual immigration to 350,000 people. It set a quota for each country at 3% of the foreign-born population of that nationality living in the U.S. based on the 1910 census.

Immigration Act of 1924 (the Johnson-Reed Act)
Lowered the cap to roughly 150,000 total immigrants per year from outside the Western Hemisphere. It changed the quota base to 2% of each nationality's foreign-born population living in the U.S. as recorded in the older 1890 census.
Targeting Southern and Eastern Europeans: Using the 1890 census intentionally reduced the allowed number of immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe (such as Italians and Slavic groups) because fewer members of those groups lived in the U.S. in 1890.

Total Asian Exclusion: The law banned all immigrants from Asian countries by declaring anyone ineligible for U.S. citizenship barred from entry.

frick CATO. Using their logic, we shouldn’t complain about illegal rape and murder if we don’t support legal rape and murder. fricking “think tank” people who don’t have real jobs.

If you make killing impossible don’t complain about murder
