Dan Driscoll is out at the Department of Defense. Now, some people want to tie his departure to the leak over the weekend that admirals and generals gave the non-concur to the Secretary of Defense in his operations book, saying they don’t think we can prolong a war in Iran. I don’t know whether that’s the case or not. But Driscoll’s departure, we now know, comes after a meeting at the White House where he documented to the president all the firings of generals and admirals within the Pentagon, particularly the generals under his charge as Secretary of the Army. Driscoll and Hegseth have been at odds since the beginning. Driscoll’s close ties to J.D. Vance made Pete Hegseth suspicious, and now Pete Hegseth has his run of the Pentagon with Driscoll gone. Driscoll has always been seen by members of Congress as the adult in the room who had a steady hand, was respected by the generals, and in turn respected the generals to transform the military. Now, some of the president’s base have sided with Hegseth just because he’s the president’s guy. That doesn’t necessarily make his decisions the best. Driscoll’s concerns have been that the Secretary of Defense purged way more generals than were woke, including a number of qualified generals whose task was to bring the Army up to speed and make it more efficient at a time that we need efficiency in the Army. Driscoll expressed his concerns to the White House and directly to the president. We are led to believe that Pete Hegseth was actually undermining the transformation of the American army into a more efficient fighting force at a time where we need a more efficient fighting force to deal with China, a more nimble force that can respond more rapidly to areas. In fact, General George, who was ousted by Pete Hegseth, in large part because of his friendship with Dan Driscoll—that’s how petty this is—was one of the key elements leading the transformation of the Army. Highly respected in Congress, highly respected by the enlisted. George was pushed out, and according to multiple reports that were never really denied, it was in large part because he and Driscoll had a great collaborative relationship. We’ve got Mean Girls at the Pentagon, and we now know admirals and generals are signaling that the Army, the Navy, the Marines, they are overextended, they are overexerted, they’re demoralized, and the Navy in particular, only a quarter of the fleet is really able to be deployed competently. That’s civilian mismanagement. That’s Pete Hegseth. The president is maintaining his loyalty right now to the Secretary of Defense.

The article says there is a "mass exodus" of attorneys from the Civil Rights Division of the DoJ.

So, of those 107,000 employees, how many were attorneys in the Civil Rights Division? Approximately 400 total. So, is six of 400 a "mass exodus?" Probably not, but it is a LOT in only a couple of days, and much closer to an "exodus" than six of 107,000.
